CAI pics incoming.
Shots of the CF tipped CBE Gen2, I've asked they adjust them more flush with the body so they're not so "sticky-outty".
Shot of the stock versus new Gen2 CBE
I'll get some under hood shots up soon.
Yet to drive it - just been getting upgraded and soon to the detailers.
looks nice!
I think that exhaust was designed more around having the Stillen rear diffuser installed as well to compliment the tips sticking out that much. I believe Mark over Mod Bargains has this set up with the diffuser as well.
Agreed (about the diffuser match up). But then where does one stop, right?? I mean - rear diffuser then met with front diffuser then met with blah blah blah... No offense, I just prefer stock and sleeper style than "extra bling" that don't mean a thing
Here's the modded install as of this morning, perfect for my tastes. Had to grind down the flashing/joints a bit and now this is exactly where I wanted them - not flush - but just a *teensy* bit out from the body's lower panelling.
I did a lot of research on what was out there - and also - what was [easily] available in BC Canada. There were a host of other systems out there, but I checked the metals used, warranties applied, gains made, etc. and it came down to F.I. or Stillen. F.I. was a bugger to get in a timely fashion and also, wasn't locally supported as much (or at all) like Stillen was. With the CAI and the CBE, the gains were impressive and the engine note - from what I could gather speaking to varied enthusiasts - was ace.
Did you have to cut the flanges for this level of flushness? My guys at the shop said to get them any further in, a cut was necessary - just wondering. I may do just that - but want to see the scene before making that decision.
Keen to read what you have to say. I dig flush mount.
Good news - it's out of the dealership's hands now and at the detailers. I'll check it all out upon inspection next week, will nab some photos too. But ya, this makes me happy. I actually sent your photo to my guys and they said it likely needs to have a higher mount point weld and possibly a cut, but I'll let them know you've achieved this without doing any "hard mods" on the system out of the box.
Just a noice toight fit... Toight loik a toiger, yesssss.
You guys with both the stillen intakes and catback have any issues with shift points shifting to early? Just read on a fb page that's guys with intake and axle back had issues with shifting too early from 3rd to 4th.
Yet to drive it. Will post my review. It's got 100mile/160km to get from A to B when I finally pick it up - should give the ECU and all the bit more than enough time to "settle in" perfectly.
I'll ask my guys too if there was an issue with the length of the original piping versus the new ones that are shorter.
Pic from the back before she left for the detailers this morning.

Does it seem to be levelling out? Or is this just a defacto "gotta live with it" byproduct of the installation or is this something we can collectively assume the ECU works through??
Secondly, PRQ50 - can you let me know who did the install on your CBE system? I may call them to get some advice to pass onto my guys in the event I feel that "flush mount" is the way to go. I'd prefer to keep the system out-of-box stock rather than the notion of cuts and re-welds. If your installer performed this flush mount without any mods whatsoever, I'd like to pick his brain to pass the intel onto my techs.
Feel free to post it or PM me - but either way, would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!!
