Default RS vs. RC350

I pulled up to a black Lexus RC350 at a light this morning. Very slick looking...similar black forged wheels as are on the RS. We both gunned it up to about 70 and it wasn't even close...I pulled at least 2 cars ahead of him. I was in sport mode and did not use paddles or manual mode. Someone made a comment in a different thread of how the paddles shift quicker when you have your foot on the throttle but that still hasn't been my experience. The shifts are very clunky.

I was very surprised to learn that they are only pushing a little over 300 hp? I thought they were over 450 hp but that is only for the F performance version.

Has anyone driven an RC? They look fun to drive and are a real head turner.

Those RC's are slow , even the 3.7 Q50 will smoke an RC350. They weigh a Ton, the RC-F is slower than the RS as well and costs 15K more

They look fast...even the non F model. I'm surprised Lexus didn't make them lighter or throw in a bigger engine.

RC350 is V6 Camry in disguise. Don't even bother!
RC-F is V8, different category but it is possible for Q50 smoke it especially for RS.
I did it with RC-F once. The very beginning, it was tie but then after 70mph, he flew!
Q50 paddle is actually really slow. It does feel fast due to the torque but for time, it is slow.

Not surprised that you smoked it....but different question: are the wheels on the RS forged? I didn't think so?

Anyone know the weight of the wheels....they look heavy to me

Update - I think I found my own answer: Unique design, staggered fitment aluminum- alloy wheel.

Not forged....anyway - thanks!

VQ37 Q50 is way faster than an RC350 by far, and I saw it. That doesn't make me dislike the RC lineup though, the RC is a good, reliable car that has a design to make it stand out from the rest of its class; the only thing I don't like is the mouse-like thing is just a trackpad because it won't work well with people who have arthritis in their fingers (not me, but it could happen to anyone).

The paddles and tranny are a night and day difference compared to my 09G37S Coupe. Red Sport shifts just fine for what it is. You need to learn at what RPM you should be shifting at. If you shift too soon or too far in the RPM range its going to be "clunky"

I own a Q50 Red Sport and a RCF (V8 Model). Even with my forged wheels I put on the redsport and the downpipes and exhaust, my RCF destroys it from a stop and up to 140mph. Not even a competition. The Q50 is way faster than the RC350 for sure. I am curious to see what an ECU tune will do and hope it opens up more. @JohnsQ I attached a picture of the stock redsport wheel and tire weight. They are fairly heavy. You can easily cut 10lbs a corner like I did.

Question is, how? How does it DESTROY the RS400?

RCF dyno in stock form is very similar to what RS400 Dynos at.

RCF: 390whp/345 ft-lbs
RS400: 376whp/350 ft-lbs

RCF CURB WEIGHT 3,958 lb
RS400 CURB WEIGHT 3,853 or 4,005 for AWD

I fail to see how it destroys it. If anything many RCF owners complain the 8 speed tranny distributes power unevenly between gears, making it worse.

You are either using bad fuel, or confused. If you were to tell me you have a base M3 which weights almost 400 pounds lighter than RS400 then I can understand, its more agile due to weight. But, the RCF is heavy as ****, heavier than RS in a RWD config, and almost the same for AWD model...

Another benefit for having an RS400 is anything you add to it MOD wise will give it a lot more power than any bolt on you slap on an NA v8 in that RCF.

*** forgot to add. AWD has more power loss due to an AWD system. RWD has less loss. Compare both RWD models instead!

Good thread. I thought the same about the RC350. Should be at least as fast as it looks.

The RCF vs RS400 discussion I can't comment on. But here are my (pre Ecutek) 1/8 mile results in my 3.7L RWD vs a 2015 RCF.

Q50 - RCF
1.111 - 1.364 Reaction
2.357 - 2.443 60ft
80.93 - 84.11 mph
9.186 - 9.038 ET

I won because of reaction time but his trap speed was much higher which means that on the street I'd be in trouble by the time we reached 3rd gear.

BTW @Rmsimmonsjr Nice friggin rides!
