The Q50a is the base model Q50. No premium package and possibly no moonroof unless it has the moonroof package on it.

painting the diffuser black is one of the best ways to make the Q50 look so much better. im surprised i haven't seen more people mention this

Had to resurrect this one. My dealer gives out Q50a's for loaners. It does have a sunroof. It's a base model Q50. I personally don't like it. Coming from my Q50, it's astonishing just how many little touches there are in the higher end versions. The Q50a feels very plain, and I wouldn't find it worth the price of admission compared to other cars in it's price range.

I don't understand why Infiniti is putting this lower case 'a' on the back of base models. What does the 'a' even stand for? There's no mention of it on the website and as far as I know Infiniti has never had a history of advertising the fact that a car is a base model on the back before. It just seems out of place and inconsistent to me.

Lol. Yea, I had a loaner that was a Q50. I think it might have had premium sound, I can't remember, but it was pretty different from mine. I guess that's what $20,000 in options does. That being said, we're clearly spoiled when a "base" luxury car doesn't meet our fancy. I think it would be nice if they stylized that clock, especially if they kept to their tradition of the oval shape, bu the clock definitely needs some more attractive graphics. Maybe that is something they can fix down the road with an update.

I think the same thing when I see a BMW 3 with just plain jane halogen headlights. This isn't 1995. Even Mazda 3s have had HID for a while. I don't think halogen should be on any luxury car anymore, but I notice BMW sells very stripped down 3s that lack power seats, ect. just so people who really should be driving something more like a Toyota or Mazda can have that blue and white propeller on the hood. I can't say I blame them, it's part of how they can sell so many 3s.
