My Maxima and FX35 both say premium recommended but don't say needed is it bad that I've been using Octane 89?

89 is optional but if you want it to run best use 91 or better. Octane keeps knocking down.

the lower octane gasolines are usually not as clean. Less cleaning agents and more ethanol.

This week I saw a 100% gasoline pump at Shell. Anyone know if that is just another "best" option for cars that take Premium or for something else??

In my garage: Moonlight White Premium RWD Graphite and Maple Trim with Nav, Deluxe Touring and Technology packages.

91 octane plus with no ethanol is the best you can get. Here in Texas we get 93 at most pumps but in metroplex areas they made a deal with the devil so we can't even buy 100% gasoline.

agreed. hybrids are the way of the future. as electric motors continue to advance they will become more helpful to the gasoline motors.

Looking at many of the future supercars they are moving to turbochargers and electric motors. The age of V12s and V10s is slowly coming to an end.
