Default US: What kind of gas to use in Q50?

While Infinity tells in owner manual to use Premium (91 AKI) gas will Plus (89 AKI) hurt the engine? Or it will cause degradation of performance only?

I only use a min of 91 octane ... The 89 octane cause the VQ to knock ...

Here's FUEL INFORMATION for Q50 from Infiniti
Use unleaded premium gasoline with an octane rating of at least 91 AKI (Anti-Knock
Index) number (Research octane number 96).
If premium gasoline is not available, unleaded regular gasoline with an octane
rating of 87 AKI number (Research octane number 91) may be temporarily used, but
only under the following precautions:
. Have the fuel tank filled only partially with unleaded regular gasoline, and fill
up with unleaded premium gasoline as soon as possible.
. Avoid full throttle driving and abrupt acceleration.
Use unleaded premium gasoline for maximum vehicle performance.

cvipgo has the info ryt there! I read it a while ago and it definitely helps with gasoline costs along with the 28city and 34hwy mpg numbers!

What!! I'm pretty sure that if it's discovered you've been pumping regular unleaded into your tank, any warranty claims could (and likely would) be denied. Not to mention engine knocking. It clearly states on the tank cap as well to "Use Premium Unleaded Only".

Always follow the owners manual. Not what some idiot salesperson tells you.

I'm pretty sure its 91 or up.

Someone correct me wrong if I'm wrong....

Not a good idea to put in 87 or 89 if that engine was designed to run on 91

2 things to not cheap out on a VQ

1. gas
2. engine oil

The homeless guy that lives under the bridge down the street told me I could use regular unleaded so that is what I am going to do. I'm sure he knows more than the engineers at Infiniti do!

I also try to fill up gasoline with the least amount of ethanol.
