Default Q50 3.0 vs. Q50 RS Engine HP

I would like to understand what Infiniti did to the 3.0 in the RS that gives it the additional 100HP??? I know it's the same engine...but is it simply tuning? Something mechanical or electronic?

In addition, can you take a 3.0 300HP motor and convert it to a 400HP RS?

Thanks

Only tuning, although RS has a few additional (or different) hardware - extra intercooler coolant pump (not the engine coolant pump), turbo sensor, different tranny (i think it's just an added oil cooler), engine oil cooler ( depending on year model), higher output alternator. There may be few other differences besides aesthetics but these are just the main ones.

Of course you can tune any vr30t to MORE THAN the RS power for under 1k without other mods. Heck even with just the ~$400 JB4 you can make it match the RS, then put usual bolt-ons such as LDP, CBE, HE and you'd be faster than stock RS already.

Also, the RS has lower final gearing, and optical turbo speed sensors.

if you are asking, "could a 3.0 non RS put out 400 horsepower," the answer is yes.

Some do it with a JB4 and some with ecutek tuning.

Apparently the Silver Sport can make more HP due to not having the optical turbo speed sensors. BUT at what expense? I want SAFE hp with longevity. Hence my Specialty Z Sebastian EcuTec tune and AMS HE. The higher volume transmission pump Level 10 installed will help keep my transmission cooler too. Im hoping this car lasts 6 years. Not sure what I'll replace it with. AMG, Lexus, BMW top my list so far, but things will change a lot in 5 years!
I played on the highway with a a BMW i8. What a beautiful car! Black with under brow turn signals. Supercarish 😎

I forgot to add BOVs. Another thing that will extend turbo life, and help with driveability by eliminating/reducing the "off throttle" responce surge.

A better intercooler usually means running higher boost to get an extra 100hp.

The RS doesn't have a different transmission than the SS or luxe or premium. Different final drive, but not transmission.

The RS has a transmission cooler. There is a different part number for transmissions, @Avedis53 , not sure if it was year, or model, but i think there is something that changed and was explained here before.
