Default Took my car in to have the belt looked at, big surprise.

Hey all, made an appointment to have the belt looked at, big surprise, my turbos need to be replaced, unbelievable here I was keeping my eyes on the belt, taking pictures, according to the service advisor the car is drivable, parts on back order, so the new thing now are the turbos being replaced, may have to wait a month.

Wow another one! You've got pretty high mileage and they are still covering this. That's great!

I'm taking in my car to dealer tomorrow to get the turbo inspected. It's been making some "woosh" sound under heavy acceleration and started experiencing huge lag recently. Sometimes it felt heavy.

Daaamn did the SA give you any details on how the Turbos failed? And if other people are reporting it?

The fact the part is on back-order makes me think more people than I initially thought are having turbo issues... But it's also a recently refreshed
part so they may not have inventory as simple as that.

Or it may also be rare. Typical warehouses would have some predefined min/max in the inventory.

45k, miles still covered, no explanation, he told me that they have been doing a few of them, that is the reason for the back order.

For sure but it's not the first turbo fail we've seen past couple years and they are starting to crop up more frequently it seems. Enthusiast POV (Formerly midwest Hooligan) also
just ran into this issue as well.

Sadly the perception we get on the forums doesn't always match reality and it's starting to look like a bigger issue. Hence me fishing for details.

Mind poking your dealer for more information?

Supposedly the new turbo prevents this issue thanks to the redesign but haven't had any confirmations.

With all non-forum members / non-enthusiasts considered, i think it's still a small number compared to # of units sold - maybe even smaller than belt issue.

One of the infiniti dealerships nearby told me they never had turbo failures on 3.0t and would love to work on one. Yunier (mh) is just one among many owners.

Let's not forget that some have really been pushing their cars to the limit, dragging, street racing, Enthusiastic POV his are leaking oil, as Boost was telling me. They didn't say anything about my LDP, keeping my fingers crossed.

Oh no question the turbo issue is less common than the Belt alignment problem, there isn't even a TSB out for the turbos yet.
Which is why I was having a discussion about how wide-spread the problem is.

He thinks it's a big problem affecting lots of people, I'm not convinced it's that bad as of writing this.

Yeah Yunier said he was seeing oil consumption from day 1 before he had LDP or any modifications , he definitely puts his Q through it's paces so a higher failure rate makes sense.
I think you will be okay, LDP on their own wouldn't explain oiling issues in the turbos and as your dealer already confirmed they've seen a few failures now so it's unlikely
they will go after you on that.
