Default Transfer case fluid change question

Hi everyone. First post. Been lurking on here forever.

'14Q50, AWD.
Getting ready to change front and rear diffs fluids. Lots of great info here (and elsewhere) on how to and what to use, etc.

I have been searching for info on fluid change for the transfer case, but so far, I have found very little.
Can someone direct me to a link of some how to's/what to use info?
The few posts I have found are G35/37. Not sure if it is the same for early Q50. And even then, the info is minimal.

Really don't feel like shelling out $400 at the dealership for "AWD Service", which they told me is diffs and transfer case. A/T is another $230 - which I may pay for, since I am not hot on the idea of working under the car with the engine running.

Thanks for the help!

I'm a believer in using the car manufacturer's driveline fluids. Yes, I know the big oil companies make "compatible" or "equivalent" fluids, but with the sophisticated and expensive drivetrain components being installed nowadays, I see no reason to risk potential performance or durability issues by using a third party product. Just how I feel about it.

Nice info Jp314, pretty sure Infiniti re-used the AWD front/rear diffs from last gen so anything for the Q50 2014-15 models should be applicable, but the Infiniti service
department should be more than willing to answer that question. (At least my dealership is).

I'm with ya Pill majority of the fluids I try and keep as per manufactures specifications, only exception to that would be motor oil/filters to which I prefer Mobil 1.

They DIY for the G37x applies to the Q as well. I'll be doing mine shortly once I hit 30k.

In regards to fluid, factory fill is Matic J. Seems odd when it's been superseded by Matic S for the transmission. I'll be using Matic S since I can just buy it in bulk and use it for my A/T drain and fills.

Thank you everyone.

I did changed the diff fluids over the holidays.
Since I have the engine undercover off, might as well do some of the other things.

Coolant
Do I need to buy 12L of the Nissan coolant?
Or do I get a couple jugs and water it down?

Thanks again!

I don't have a Haynes manual for my G37 yet but I imagine it's similar capacities for the Q50, 9-12L should be just about right for the capacity of most radiator systems.
It may say somewhere in your manual or on the radiator cap what the total system capacity is.

With that said the Genuine NISSAN Long Life Antifreeze is rated for about 100K miles so you really shouldn't need to worry about it
for another 2-3 years.

I would recommend that if you go that route use only distilled water or an approved premix.

Caterpillar has for some time now advocated the use of premixed coolant for their big bore diesels. PH adjusted. Since you only need to change it every six years why scrimp.

@DarkKnight which fluid did you end up using for the transfer case. I know the manual states Matic J, but Nissan has superseded J to S. My research has found that J is either petroleum based or a synthetic blend. S is full synthetic. I was able to get my hands on a quart of J, but S is more readily available it seems. It seems that S should be as good and better than J.

Could you let me know what you went with and why? Thanks.

I was at the Nissan dealership where I get my service done, I'm getting the Transfer case fluids changed tomorrow, our manual tells us to inspect the fluids, where Nissan actually changes the fluids every two years, under $200 for front and back, they use full synthetic.
