Default Rock chips on Dynamic Sunstone Red RS

Anyone ever repaired rock chips on Dynamic Sunstone Red (multi layers)? I've tried ColorNDrive which has the rose gold base layer and then red clear coat layer, but can't get anything close to a color match.

Have you done multiple layers with this solution?

Dr. Colorchip does a good job of providing matching paint but I don't know how well it handles the Sunstone Red. It is a fairly thin product so if your intent is to fill the chip so it matches the level of the surrounding paint, you'll be applying many coats. I've done multiple coats on a few chips and didn't get the paint level in the chip to match up but it hides the chip very well regardless.

Any paint that uses a tinted clearcoat, such as Dynamic Sunstone Red, the touchup paint solutions are all going to just be trying to get close. To be honest, though, that is the case for all touchup paint solutions.

I've never done a touchup that just blended in perfectly. I've found Dr. Colorchip to be the best at getting decent results.

When you get the touch up, make sure you shake it VERY well, majestic white has always been the toughest to match up, I’ve found that you have to use the touch up as well as the clear coat on the other side to get it close enough. What I tell my customers is that it’s not fixing the issue, just making it look better, they always expect it to look perfect afterwards.....have never used dynamic sunstone touch up but just use a few layers and it should definitely help!

imo you'd have better results going to a paint shop and having them color match on the spot and making you a small batch, then use some kind of filler if its a deep chip, wet sand flush. then use the color and top with clear - then wet sand again and polish

a good vid:

I was using "ColorNDrive". The base layer is sort of a rose gold. Clearcoat layer is deep red. Tried building up with the base layer (3-4 layers) but, once I start applying the red clearcoat, the color just keeps coming out too dark.

The chips are all the way down to the metal, so I'm not sure the Dr Colorchip is going to get it done.

Dr. Colorchip can adhere to metal. From their website:
"The paint will adhere to exposed metal, plastic, fiberglass and primed surfaces."
