Default Key Fob Question

I have a 2018 Q50s.
It only came with one key fob and I would like to get another.
What is the best way to do this without the dealer prices?
Also, once I get it, can I program it my self or will I need a dealer or some specialist?
Preferably something that comes with a key I can match as well.

One more thing. Obviously the original has a key in it.
But I can only open the door with it, no way to crank up the car.
So what happens if you're out and about or on a road trip and the battery goes out?

Thanks

In all honesty going the non dealer route might cost you more money and time. You can buy a fob on ebay and go to the dealer for programming to save some $$$.
You can search for a post on the forum but our fobs all look the same but have different internals. There is a spreadsheet like chart that shows which group is compatible with your car.

When your battery dies in your fob you can hold it near the start button to start the car.

Nothing to see here...

My newly purchased 2017 Q60 3.0t Premium came with only one key fob as well. Bought two new ones from KeylessRemotes through Amazon. $70.

Called my local auto locksmith to inquire about programming them both. The guy quoted $125 for both, plus $45 to cut each spare key. Total $220.

I took the car into my local Infiniti dealer for a complimentary inspection (gave it a free car wash too, which I thought was pretty cool). I asked the service advisor about the programming and he said he'd do both for $85 plus $40 to cut each key. $165. I figured heck, let the dealer do it and I would pass on the spare keys... For now.

He came back 20 minutes later and said they fobs I bought were "the wrong frequency". That didn't sound right to me because I was pretty careful about checking the FCC number, ICC, part #, etc. They matched.

Called "tech support" for the keys sold to me. The rep asked for my zip code and gave me the number of another local, independent, mobile locksmith.

The guy quoted me $75... For everything. Came out, plugged his tool into the ODB2 port...i swear he was finished in under ten minutes, keys cut and ALL!

All functions and keys work fine.

Prices vary widely. I got the two key fobs for $70... Both programmed and keys cut for $75.

Push the “push to start” button with the key fob instead of your finger, there’s a sensor in the fob that will always allow you to start your car if batter dies in the fob

That's great. But for me, personally, it would bother me not to have the Infiniti logo on the fob. I too only have only one key and would like 1 or 2 more.

Make sure the car is in Park and apply the foot brake before touching the ignition switch with the key fob. Touch the fob to the ignition switch until you hear a chime sound. As long as you push the ignition switch while depressing the brake pedal within 10 seconds after the chime sounds, the engine will start. You don't have to push the ignition switch with the fob, just use your finger within the allotted time.

EVERY effin car comes with two keys and whoever sold it to you owes you two keys. We have a douchebag dealer network locally (yeah, you Walser...suck my ****) that specifically states on their web site that their used cars only come with one fob / remote.
