Don't get me wrong, I'm good driving the loaner until it gets fixed, that was my plan all along and why I got Infiniti Consumer Affairs involved but what I don't like is my car sitting outside all week. I garage this thing, I take care of it and to be honest it's much nicer then this Luxe I'm driving. If I would've know this I would have taken my car home, parked it and continued to drive this loaner. I've be totally cool with all these folks at the dealership and they've all been very nice, I'd just like some transparency as to the reason for the hold up. May need to call and speak with the executive manager if I don't get a follow up call better explaining the situation as to why the hold up. Sorry- thanks for listening. LOL
Personally, I'd be fine with a loaner for a full 5 years. Let them take care of maintenance and I just put in the gas.

And, it keeps me from spending money on mods.

I'm good with a loaner for the meantime but I'd like to drive the car I'm paying for. I wish I had a company car considering the amount I drive to and from work.

I had this issue with my first Audi. Was in the shop more then on the road for the first year. It was a certified pre-owned. Nothingís worse then making $500 car payments on a car you canít drive. What made it worse back then was the loaner cars werenít Audiís lol. They tried giving me Hondaís and Toyota rentals. That was Fíing ridiculous. Iím lucky I actually get a work car with my current position. Makes all the difference in miles and maintenance.

so now after reading everything, Sorry for your troubles, when breaking in the engine, I noticed it used more than normal oil and brought it to the dealer - they immediately told me that it COULD be the turbos leaking and they've already done a few turbos. (what?)

Anyways so if you get new turbos, would you have to re-do the entire break in process again? I'm at 900 miles now and this blows that I can't punch it until 1,200 miles. But, i'm following orders.

Thank you Carlos Ghosn for this absolutely ASS quality of the current generation of Infiniti cars. Before he injected his cancer into the brand (CVTs, undersized turbos, electronics from Walmart), Infiniti was right there with Lexus as the most reliable brand on the market. Oh, and the steering didn't suck. Now? I'd trust a god damned E60 or E90 BMW over one of these turbochared Qs!

Brief update:

I finally had to contact the exec. manager about their lack of communication. Sent a long email and he called back about 15 minutes later. 2 weeks and not a peep from anyone there. Ultimately it’s on the service manager. To make this short, they have a call into the tech. line to try and figure out what this lead goes to coming off the turbo, LOL. Ummmmm, isn’t that the optical speed sensor for the RS model….. Ughhhhh, I think I know more than the tech working on my car knows. FML! They sent the wrong turbo, didn’t they? Guess I’ll be in this loaner another month. : /

LOL! There's a turbocharger speed sensor installed on the compressor side of each turbocharger. That's the only cable coming off the turbochargers that I'm aware of.

I'm a little confused as to the term "optical speed sensor" though. The FSM describes the turbocharger speed sensor as being an eddy current sensor, not optical.

I was only referencing to what I read here:
https://conceptzperformance.com/blog...turbochargers/

Quick update:

Just got a call from the service manager, Apparently there is a revised turbo that no longer has the exhaust temperature sensor and that an update to the car needs to be performed so that the car no longer takes these readings. This was their discrepancy when they weren't sure why it looked different then the one they removed. Would love some feedback on this... Also the car will get an alignment due the the subframe being dropped with the engine. And I requested it to be waxed! ; )

I've seen it referred to as an optical sensor in several publications yet the FSM says it's an eddy current sensor, so what's up with that?
