It seems that the only 12-volt outlets are buried away in the center console. For those of you that use radar detectors, how are you going to manage the power plug? It would look terrible having to drag a cable all the way from the windshield to the center console. Dragging it down to the shifter area where most 12 volt outlets are bad enough, but this will be even worse...Time to think about going with a wireless radar detector??

No way! There isn't one in the compartment below the inTouch Screen? This is going to be a big PITA for me. I usually have my radar on all the time. Might have to do a harwired install then :(

Was thinking of getting a dash cam. I guess the only neat way would be having one installed permanently.
Ummmm dash cam?? To record you or the road?? ha

I hate that the iPhone connection is also in the center console. I hope it's in a better place than in my G37. I have little hands (considering I'm short) and I feel like I have to break my hand to position it to get the charger plugged in. Can't imagine how people with larger hands handle it.

It would be awesome to have an Intouch app that talked to your radar detector. That way you could do an invisible mount (in the sunglasses box) with a remote display. I think there are some iPhone apps for certain radar detectors.

I had mine hard wired from back of the mirror connector, the radar detector mounts on the mirror shaft - looks as it came with the car as an accessory. Will take a pic and post it. I used BlendMount: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61+rEf6SQxL._SL1000_.jpg
Will hardwire my 9500xi to the fuse panel accessory output. Want it to not drain battery if I forget to turn it off.
see previous post of mine.
the way I wired from mirror connector, the radar detector turns off when the car is off and on when car start plus has no shaking or vibrations. solid as the mirror.

Don't you just leave it plugged in all the time and just plug your iPhone in to the other end when you hop in your car?

I leave mine plugged in all the time. Got an extra cable and it sits outside the center console for easy access.

Im going a bit off topic, but i dont currently own a radar detector, and i do planning on buying one when i take delivery of my Q50. Any input on which detectors are good and bad? I really want the Valentine One but not sure if i can justify 399 for the detector + 39 for the concealed display. My buddy has a Whistler pro but they dont provide the protection the valentine one does, however it comes at a much lower price.

My considerations for mounting are either hard wiring or running a long flat power cable under my seat up my A pillar and across onto the detector which will most likely be mounted on the rearview mirror via a blendmount. Would i still be able to use a concealed display on a V1 if i were to hardwire?

Thanks for any inputs, a bit of a noobie here :)

I actually didn't leave one plugged in until last week!! What's 3 years! ha Just didn't think about it. OH good lord, another blonde "moment".

Also, I don't leave my phone in there while it's plugged in and I hate that closing the console puts pressure on the cord. I've had to buy 3 new chargers last week because all of mine have broken for one reason or another. Drives me crazy. But I wish they would have a slight cut out (tiny) enough for a cord for this purpose. :(

I have the passport escort 9500ix and I love it. It works great. Looks like I'll have to hardwire mine again to the Q50 like I did with the previous car. Or maybe upgrade to the 9500ci. :)

That would be awesome! I'd jump on that.
