Just saying hello. I've been following the forums for a while and thought I would join in. It's been an impressive source of information and I've learned a lot. I also appreciate the candid dealer feedback from people like Sinecure and Nick.

I must admit the discussion has been highly entertaining at times. :)

Here's my probable configuration:

- Premium RWD
- Navigation
- Spare
- Leather
- Deluxe Touring
- Technology

I'm not sure yet on the color. Thought I would get Infiniti Chick's assistance on figuring that out. ;)

It's possible I could go for the hybrid. It certainly is attractive, but I also want the fold down rear seats. Plus I'm afraid the hybrid trunk would be too small after I add the spare. I want the spare so I can go with non-RF tires after the originals wear out.

I'm a buy and hold person. I don't do leasing and I pay cash. I got the impression I'm in the distinct minority in that regard.

I was looking for a fun, yet practical car. From my looking at it on paper, the Q50 looks closest to my ideals. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it reviewed and trying it out myself. The last Infiniti we had was a while back. My wife had a G20 and thoroughly enjoyed it. It certainly has changed a lot since then.

Nick - I was hoping to stop by your dealership this weekend, but the last I checked you didn't have any Q50s and of course this software update has everything at a standstill. I'll be watching the status and dropping by when you get some drive-able inventory. BTW, I checked a dealer rating web site and it rated your dealership Texas Dealer of the Year for 2012 and 2013. Congrats and that's why I was planning to check you guys out.

Welcome to the forum! Color is certainly something hard to pick out and would definitely be something better judged in person! If your dealer cant get all colors in maybe they will have a color pallete you can check out! There are 3 new colors anyway so you could most likely see the other colors from the other infiniti models if need be!

For trunk space, if you're that concerned about the space, u might have to wait for revuews or see that in person as well! There are some vids on youtube about it but doesnt really show the available space in perspective! I think its 14 cubic ft for hybrid and 18 for non hybrid!

Hope that somehow helps and welcome to the forum again! :)

Yeah, I just bumped the trunk space thread with this question. I keep seeing 18 cu ft for the gasser and 13.5 for the hybrid on the boards but I haven't seem any Infiniti literature that spelled it out so I don't know if those numbers are accurate.

Anyone have anything in writing?

Yea, even the rep from the Q50 event I went to said "that's what we've been telling people" so most likely nothing official then! Hopefully the first one of us to get their Q50 could do a test to at least give us a good perspective on the trunk size/what the trunk can fit! :D

The event that I attend the sales rep stated that you could put two full size golf bags with clubs into the non-hybrid. Since I don't play golf I have no idea if there are different size golf bags and can't tell you the last time I have seen a golf bag in person.

And you need to get the hybrid :)
For me the hybrid is tradeoff between performance and functionality. It's impressive to be able to get that level of performance with that kind of gas mileage, but I know I won't even notice the difference to my bank account. That's why I am currently favoring the non-hybrid.

Good to know you are trying out Nick's dealership. Maybe if he gets a couple of deals off of this forum his boss won't be quite as upset at all the time he is spending on the internet. :)

Have you asked him if you can get yours in maroon?

Haha wouldn't that be nice!

I guess if you really need the extra trunk space, the hybrid isn't the best option.

Ooh, looks like we've got another big spender on the forum. :D
Not me! Compare what you pay in lease payments vs. spreading the car's selling price over 10 years. You guys are spending more in the long run. In the meantime I am debt free and can generate the cash for the next purchase.

The only time we needed to finance was when we purchased our first car after we got married. We sunk what cash we hand into it and paid off the note in 3 months.

Being debt free is especially nice when the economy is such that you don't know how long your job will last. You sleep a lot easier.

It's the lifestyle we chose way back when and it has worked well for us. :D

I am in Houston as well, and am getting the exact same config. Purchasing as well. Right now I am leaning towards Hagane Blue, as that is what's on my preorder. But will see in person before I sign on the dotted line.

Officially, the gas model has an 18 cu. ft. trunk, and the hybrid is 14.1.

VERY FUNNY GUYS!!! You say that like I'm indecisive or something!!! Hahaha Umm I may have it narrowed down to the Hagane Blue if it is as pretty and the color I THINK it will be in person. Well, that or the Malbec Black...or maybe the Graphite Shadow or......... :)

Ohhh and Selzini, you are now in trouble for posting two responses in a row. You may hear from GtoQ soon so I'll just give you his advice now to save him from his unofficial moderator duties:

Gee, thanks - but I've told you that I'm tech-phobic.:D When computers first came into the school, I actually deleted the DOS from the office computer while trying to learn how to use the dam+n thing. They wouldn't let me touch it for a month afterwards.

HYSTERICAL!!! You poor thing. Don't worry, I'm a tech and gadget fan and still can't figure out how to do what he suggested. This is my first forum so I'm not aware of all the "how to's". I had no idea my posts were causing such a mess to the other members. I'm so glad GtoQ pointed it out for me. Haha

UPDATE!! I figured it out. Now instead of 3 short responses in a row from me, I'll just post one really long one to reply to three. Haha
