The "Bull Dog Performance Chip" is a waist of money from what I remember with the G37 which has the same power plant "VQ37VHR". UPREV OSIRIS is where the real tuning can be acheived by a licensed tuner and dyno time with there ECU reflash.

Have you checked this out. 293WHP Q50 from GTM. Probably should have checked before posting this.

My fault Dstew, you right 393HP. Got a little excited that a company is doing performance R&D for the Q. Quick edit. Thanks.
You had it right the first time, it put out 293whp and 253wtq. That's pretty impressive as GTM uses a Mustang "Heart Breaker" Dyno.

Sounds interesting, but I'll wait to see more feedback on this... this sounds like a pretty descent plug and play option for more power.

what mods has GTM put into that Q50 to make that kind of power, i'd love to jump on whatever they've got. and you guys dont think the bullydog chip is a good option even if i can get 50% off of the purchase?

I spoke with BullyDog (we are a distributor) and those claims do not come from them. Those are generic claims from their tuner. Some of the Diesel motors will see gains like that. I'm sure the website took some of the generic "up to" gains they saw for the BullyDog tuners and put them on the website. We have seen around 15-18 whp gains from UpRev dyno tuning when the car has headers, HFCs, Exhaust, and Intake on VQ37 motors. That should be a good indication that those gains are highly improbable.

So gains of up to "35"whp isnt really possible with a simple chip. Then the only advantage to having a bully dog chip is the fact that it gives you the information such as fuel econ throttle percentsge temp etc. via the obd II port ?

Those kid of gains are possible on Turbo/Turbo Diesel Cars. It might give you a small performance gain. Custom tuning to match your specific car and modifications will always yield better results though. The monitoring system would be nice sometimes but I think that screen looks tacky in such a nice car IMO.

Now THERE'S a decent reason to build a custom app for the InTouch screen.

im not sure the intouch system has access to information such as engine temp info tranny temp info, without being plugged into the OBD2 port. i could be totally wrong but i dont think the car would allow an app to have access to any information beyond what is given with the performance app, which i never use because its super unresponsive.

If the computer has access to a serial/usb port an app could be written to monitor the output from a chip.
