Pulled this from the Club Lexus Forum (which was pulled from the F30 Forum).

Ironically, C&D graded the IS one point higher than the 335i and the Beamer guys are beant out of shape over it.

On the other hand, the IS 0-60 time came in at 5.6 sec, a full 1 second behind the the Beamer. I thought the current IS runs 4.8 now.

Really hoping the Q (non hybrid) can get low 5's or high 4's.

What say you...?

I hope the 0-60 on the Q is decent also. Someone said the hybrid pulled 5 seconds at the TMS event. Personally I hope the 60-100 is more impressive than 0-60, I spend a fair amount of time dodging nimrods on the highway.

I don't think the IS350 competes with the 335i in terms of pure power. I believe it's more in line with the 328i. That's what the IS-F is for.

There is no way that car is pumping out only 300hp.
Horsepower is more than just the numbers. It's about the technology being pulled through into the engine.

I also agree--after driving a 335i M Sport, there really is absolutely no reason to ask for more power unless you're a devoted track/performance nut.

What's the point of an M3/M4 if the 335i is THAT fast? Like seriously, 4.6 seconds and almost a full second faster in the 1/4 mile than the others? There is no way that car is pumping out only 300hp.

And the Q50 will prob land in the 5.0-5.5 sec range, which is the norm for a 300-330hp car...
You're right. BMW regularly under-reports HP numbers to avoid taxation. Europe has some weird export tax based on displacement and horsepower. Actual HP is probably closer to 340-350.

Would that be an issue to be under-reporting for the power numbers? I think it would be more of an issue if it was the other way around, the reason probably is because the owners dont mind it. But if the numbers were fudged up then there will be more complaints.

Reading that article did make me aware of I felt that the BMW 3-Series' biggest issues really do fall in the suspension/chassis department. I don't think I mentioned it in my review. I do feel that the suspension/chassis in the ATS V6 was a lot more balanced in comparison.

This has really sparked my interest in the IS350 now. This is also the second time this week. I've heard a great praise about the seats in the IS350

As long as you're not in the back. ;) The IS has no room in the rear, it's almost M3-like as far as the interior dimensions go. My friend's 2006 M3 convertible just has rear seats for decoration. With the front seats all the way back, there is literally 1 inch behind the front seat. Why have a sedan with no practicality for hauling more than 1 other person around? For the longer wheelbase/ride quality?

Careful. You're sounding like a car salesman. :p:cool:

For the record, I can count on one hand the number of times anyone has ever ridden in the back seat of my G37. I'm single with no kids. Backseat space is virtually a non-issue for me at this point.

I'm single with no kids too, but when it's lunch time, everyone walks towards the sedan, which is mine. I also move medium sized objects from time to time. Having a sedan with rear seat room is friendly and practical. ;)

I never use my backseat unless I'm putting a pizza back there or something. :D

As long as the seats fold down :)mad: @ G37 sedan), then I'm good.

I have a 08 coupe; two kids, a 6 year old and 9mos old. I pack the wife and kids up in the car every weekend.

We drove roundtrip from Maryland to Mississippi last month; an interesting drive to say the least, but we made it work. However, I laugh whenever coworkers want to ride for lunch; I always tell'em, "One and Done". You are not going to screw up my suspension. :)

I was hard on the new IS interior at first, but I have warmed up to it...looks ergonomic, yet driver oriented. Still confused tho, 5.6 0-60 seems to be a step back if 4.8 0-60 for current model is true. But early consensus says it has nailed its "fun to drive" element.

The one thing I love about my S coupe, I love the rigidness/harsh ride. I feel very connected to the road. I love hearing how other drivers say "it doesn't feel like 90 mph in their car." I laugh, “when I'm doing 90, it feels like a 110".:D I hope Infiniti keeps this in mind for the q50/60 S models.

You are right. The G's have something intangible where the car feels faster than it really is. Of course the car is fast but the sudden surge of power and when you gas it, it feels faster than it really is going.

ie. 50-60 MPH when I press on the gas, it feels like 75-80!

I actually dislike that I rather have a car that feels like it's going slower than it actually is, otherwise it feels like a Honda LOL. Maybe this is because im so used to V8 vehicles and not 6 or 4 cylinder vehicles.

I bet the Infiniti M feels like it's going slower than it actually is.

Yeah im a feen for speed lol

Same use for the back for me. My pizzas are usually pretty comfortable in the back seat rather than the front. lol Being single and have back seats is a plus when the opportunity comes if you know what I mean haha. The G37 sedan has quite a spacious backseat for good use and I guessing it will be the same for the Q50.

I'm sorry but with the exception of the bimmer the performance of the ATS and IS350 are on par with that of the redesigned honda accord... That is just sad ...

Seriously, what are you basing this on? I doubt you've had your hands on all four of the cars you're referring to.
Motor trend c&d all clocked 0-60 times for the new accord of 5.5 to 5.6 seconds obviously the handling would be greater in the ATS AND IS350 but the accord cost wa less and ur absolutely correct I have yet to drive the new is 350 I was just referring to the 0-60 times ...

Oh no, oh no sir, you've broken a serious, serious rule there.

"Performance" and "0-60 times" are not one in the same.

If you think I'm wrong, then you go and convince C&D to add the Honda Accord in their next sports sedan comparison tests. :p

I'm not knocking the V6 Accord, but it's a totally different segment. Outside of its straight line speed, I'm going to assume its got the same gearbox/downshifting, handling/braking, and throttle response issues that most FWD family sedans have. For the money, I'm sure a top of the line $35k V6 Accord is a nice deal for most, but it's still no sports sedan.
