Tonight I stopped at my local Ceciltucky Royal Farms for their infamous take-out chicken. I happened to park at the front door, and as I get out, there's a noticeable stir inside. A couple of minutes later, several people inside ask me if that's my car: what is it; who makes it; is it quick; what'll she do; it's really good looking; it's gorgeous; congrats; good luck; etc.

Yup, just like the front wheel drive Altimas in the parking lot. I'm a gear head too. I think I would have noticed if the design was derivative. I haven't because it's not. It's not even derivative of the G. Well, maybe one item, the console has strong hints of Tesla's: single plane; straight metal edges; large screen(s). Check it out.

In short, this is a fresh design. Yes, it has 4 wheels, windows, and doors. That's only so you don't think that aliens made it on Alpha Centauri.

Oh, and why didn't he test an S version? It's so much better in every handling category. Outside of a lower price, there's no reason to make a non-S.

The Q50 is far better looking than any current Nissans, and this is perhaps the silliest criticism I've heard to date.

That being said, I do feel like from the rear ¾ view, the Q50 looks a lot like a Hyundai Sonata. But I don't think that detracts from the Q50.

Well, he's not saying that it doesn't look better.

He's saying that design-wise, it still looks a bit too similar to the Altima/Maxima, which I can definitely see. Truthfully, I've come across a few Altimas recently that I really confused with the Q50 for a split second.

It's things like this that I still always think is a strong practice to have and what I think the Lexus IS has done well. Say what you will about that car's design but you won't ever confuse the Lexus IS with any another Toyota product.

From certain angles, if you kinda squint your eyes and turn your head real fast the IS250 favors the corolla... :p
