2014 Infiniti Q50 Rapidly Revised, We Drive Updated Car
Seriously? Infiniti is going to charge existing customers for this update? WTF?!?

That's not the point. I personally don't have any major beef with the DAS. But for those customers who don't like it, why is Infiniti going to charge them for a software update that they are putting into all new vehicles going forward?Sounds like all the boy racers have their briefs twisted over this. I didn't realize so many Q50 buyers bought their cars for the racetrack. I have no problem with the DAS on my Hybrid Sport. However, I haven't taken it to the track, nor do I intend to.
It better be or Infiniti would lose some points with me.."Owners of earlier cars can have their dealers perform the software update for an undisclosed amount—why it’s not free, we don’t know—while pricing for the aforementioned Sport package will be set closer to its release in early 2014."
I don't believe this statement, it's misleading. I think undisclosed amount if undisclosed is "zero"
Infiniti will loose shirt/pants not points if they charged even a copper plated zinc penny for software update for 2014 Q50.It better be or Infiniti would lose some points with me..![]()
So the new RWD Q50S will be better than ever and with revised DAS. Then again, I miss the tail-happy feeling of my old G35. My new car just stays planted. In pre-update cars, it was this feeling, combined with the setup’s lightning-quick reactions, that led to another reported issue: drivers turning into corners too abruptly and unsettling the car, which responded with excessive oversteer. To counter this and to dial in some understeer, Infiniti will offer a new Sport package for rear-wheel-drive models that encompasses lighter forged aluminum wheels and wider 265/35R19 rear performance tires. (The front rubber will remain 245/40R19s.)
Save your vitriol, hubris and outrage for something worthwhile. Like the lack of cooled seats.
I'm with you in this. I have reservations about the veracity of some comments in that rag. I dropped my subscription awhile ago, as they have been going with some immature writers."Owners of earlier cars can have their dealers perform the software update for an undisclosed amount—why it’s not free, we don’t know—while pricing for the aforementioned Sport package will be set closer to its release in early 2014."

While I agree that any update shouldn't be charged for - and I CAN'T believe that Infiniti would be so oblivious as to do so - I totally agree with what you said. I'm sure that the vast majority of buyers will never come close to a race track with their cars. I am perfectly happy with the steering(and I've had three Gs, including the first coupe). And by the way, unless I'm misreading the article, it sounds like the update is only for RWD sport models, so it doesn't concern me at all.Sounds like all the boy racers have their briefs twisted over this. I completely agree, before the torches are lit and the villagers march to Smyrna we should probably wait to see what happens when they come out with the full release version."Owners of earlier cars can have their dealers perform the software update for an undisclosed amount—why it’s not free, we don’t know—while pricing for the aforementioned Sport package will be set closer to its release in early 2014."
