The Q50 at velgen currently has an exhaust system on it, heard a couple sound clip on instagram that are a bit more clear then what was posted on the forums, any other of you guys heard it? what do you think? i would like to jump on an exhaust pretty soon

Edit : after a bit of research, i'm considering a HKS custom exhaust option or magnaflow / borlas, not really wanting to do welding onto anything stock, so my plan was to buy the universal mufflers, have them welded to a ball flange that bolts right onto where the stock system was removed. as you guys can tell im a newbie, and i know some of you have modded previous cars so any input would be appreciated !

find a good custom exhaust shop with a good reputation.

I'm guessing you are from Vancouver?

Google is your friend

Check the revscene recommendations.

You can choose the type of steel you want to use for the piping. The diameter of piping

What resonator, what muffler, what kind of tip.

You could also suggest how to route the exhaust but I'd do research to see what methods are preferred.

Hello, im in the process of uploading an exhaust clip. The latest one i posted on Instagram is of the Full Cat-back w/ High Flow Catalytic's anything before that was either stock exhaust or hfc's and 2.5" ypipe with stock mid pipe and axle back. I've owned a 350z, 370z, G37 Sedan, and now the Q50. I've modded and tuned everyone of my Nissan/Infiniti vehicles. I've noticed a trend on which mods actually make power and exhaust and Uprev tune seem to be the most significant ones. Stay tuned for the that exhaust clip!

yeah im in vancouver, just went around to a few shops this morning and got a few quotes, like i mentioned i want a bolt on system, so an option i was given was to remove the mufflers from the flange, put a new flange that bolts on, weld piping and weld tips of my choice on, essentially straight piping my car. eventually i'll be looking into a full catback system but right now this sounds like a good idea? what do you guys think, they quoted me 250 for the piping, flange, and the labour, i bring the tips of my own choice in, so im probably looking at 3-350 for a straight pipe application

They do this to g37 coupes all the time, look for videos on youtube. They basically remove your axleback and replace it with str8 pipes and add tips. It sounds good on the coupe but it might be a little to loud for the Q50 under normal driving conditions.

I removed the 2 rear resonators from my 2006 M45. It has a great V8 burble and is not really loud. There are times however, that I get tired of the low drone and miss the quiet of the stock system. For that reason, I think I will leave the Q50 system stock.;)

im not doing any welding to my car or cutting, the straight pipe system will simply be just like the mufflers im removing as they'll mount via the flange that the mufflers mount onto. so if it ever gets too annoying i can take 5 minutes of my time to take off the back pipes and throw the muffler back on at home.

now all you gotta do is go to downtown, in an area with highrises, and do a fly by. I did one in my last car that i had straight piped and it shook up some of the local store windows there

Sound interesting. Is it possible for you to post any pics of the mod? I'd like to remove the cats but want to make sure it's not to loud.

if you remove the cats muffler and resonators all together it'll be super loud, it'll also smell really bad. if straight piping from the resonator back isnt loud enough for you, you can ditch the resonator along with the muffler all together, but that requires cutting into the stock pipes and welding.

A few pics of the mufflers off, i plan on havin the shop attach flanges to the existing ones so theres no welding and i can go back to stock in 10 minutes if i really wanted to

No I despise underbody coating as part of my work requires me to be under the vehicles installing hitches. That **** does not come off unless I put gasoline on my arm.

Im going to keep her indoors for most of winter hopefully. Ill have to fight the urge to take it out for a couple snow drift sessions though :(

Picked up the magnaflow tips today along with a x-pipe muffler for a different application, heres a couple pics! Getting them installed most likely tomorrow.

the tips are 4in' diameter (same size as the current stock ones, except the stock ones are slash cut while these are regular cut)
