Do you use Infiniti Connection for journey planner or send destination ?

4909 Views 11 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  selzini
Just realized that Infiniti connection is a year trial, so should use it some. I haven't since my 1st week of buying the car when I called just to ensure it works?

So Does anyone really use the features regularly ?
Like "destination send to vehicle" or "journey planner".

For emergency roadside assistance, Who provides the service ? Anyone use for anything else than (DAS issue related) Towing, Are their charges nominal ?

Thanks!

I've use the infiniti personal assist to get some directions, other than that. i haven't used it for anything else. For the journey planner, i didn't work for some odd reason
I refuse to use it. It's my futile protest against the ridiculous pricing structure. I despise being nickeled and dimed. They should have raised the price to include it for the original ownership.
Just doing some google searches, I'm seeing that it's quite expensive to keep the service after the 1 year. I had no idea it would be that much. Guess I won't be keeping it after the year. I have used it few times though.
The google search is really bad. It is slow to get the result and most of time, the results are not very helpful.
However, although the loading and infiniti connection is super slow, I rely heavily on send destination before getting into the car. Rather than spending time entering the information in the car before leaving, I like it to be sent before getting into the car especially in the restaurant or the night before traveling. I hope they will speed up the loading and infitini connectin should have destination ready when the application boots up. Otherwise, paying this service is a waste of money.
Haha, the system is so slow by the time you get the directions you could have gone and come back already. Unfortunately, there is nothing that system can do that my phone can't do better and faster.

Huh? It is free for the first year. There's no charge for using the service, nor any of the stuff they'll do for you. Towing is free for four years (even after IC's free trial expires). Are you saying they should have built in the $300ish/year cost into your car? For what "original ownership" period? You want them to add $1000 to the cost of the car for something you say you won't/can't/refuse to use? Makes no sense. Use the damned thing and see if it is worth the $300 for next year.

Your phone connects you to a real person, who speaks English, knows exactly where you are and can find you all sorts of things anywhere nearby (or far away).

The connected search function is a waste of time, I'll give you that. But just ask for Infiniti Personal Assistant. They can find virtually anything with just the simplest of prompts/help. Nearest In N Out Burger? No sweat. Favorite 80's band playing someplace but you can't remember which venue? Yeah, they got that - plus could get you tickets if you want them to.

I love when people bash something they've already paid for (yes, that first year is built into the cost of your car Llama), and haven't even given a try. Didn't your salesperson show you how to use it and how to make the best use of it?

Good to know, thanks for the info.

1. I know it's free, initially. That's why I said my comment was futile.
2. The $300/year tag is INCREDIBLY OVERPRICED!!! It is not a reflection of the real cost. My "Getting Ripped Off Radar" tripped. The renewal rate will be abysmally low. Somebody tell Infiniti that most of their buyers will have smartphones that can perform the same functions for far less cost, if any. Perhaps I'm wrong on this. Perhaps there's a multitude of people who can't figure anything out for themselves, including where the nearest special greasy spoon is, or where their fav band is playing while driving through the middle of Kansas (Oh look, they're on that bus going the other way!)
3. For the length of time that the original owner keeps the car.
4. When I finally signed up (after a bunch of emails from Infiniti), it took a long time to connect (and a poor connection), and I was kept on hold for a long time. Not impressed.
5. Almost always, when I get in my car, I have a pretty good idea of where I'm going, and how I'm going to get there.
6. When in the mood for serendipity, we just wing it. My wife and I call it L'Avventura. We have found many great places this way. It's fun, and I don't need Infiniti to tell me, or know my business.
7. Because I own it, I can futily bash it.
8. I took delivery of an expensive car. Had to move all the crap from my trade to the new car. My wife started to get ill. Salesman is telling me that some features are 1 year, others 4 (instantly memorized - NOT). Couldn't connect with Infiniti so it wasn't set up. The whole thing took hours. By the way, I've actually had a worse new car delivery experience. Not to mean I don't like my dealer. They're great people.

Regarding cost - to have the same level of OnStar service in a GM vehicle it is $25/ mo or basically the same price. Granted the OnStar app is probably a little better.

The only problem with OnStar is that it comes with a GM vehicle! No thanks.

We're on the same wavelength on this. On my expected long road trip this summer, I already know where I'll be stopping for lunch(shopping malls) and for the night, on the first part of the trip(to Vegas). I just went to yahoo maps and found everything I need. After Vegas, I MAY use the navigation for the first time, but like you said, winging it can be a lot of fun.
