Drop Bear Oil Pan

Wasn't too tough. And glad to of picked this up and install. I was due for the oil change service interval anyways. So snagged some fresh Synthetic 0-20 and the nifty NISMO oil filter from Z1.

What was most surprising to me was how much of my old oil was still in the factory pan when dropping it. A little disturbing for me personally. But looks good. Factory shroud fit no issue. And got a nice extra quart of oil to try and keep the snails healthy and happy!

This is next for me along with the Z1 undershroud. Great insurance and looks clean.

I COULD google this, but I’ll just ask: was the oil pan baffled?

The tealish blue, what type of braces are those?

I bought the shroud first. Are we sure dropbear pan and Z1 Armor will fit together?

Chassis bracing by soul function. they have maybe one brace that fits the AWD, and the rest are for the RWD.

If the Z1 fit the factory pan without issue I do not see why it wouldn't fit the Drop Bear pan

I have the TBW Performance Skid Plate for my '17 Q60S AWD:

Aluminum Under Tray for AWD 2014-2020 Infiniti Q50 & 2016-2020 Q60 (V37) BLACK

The only fit issue I found was one of the bolts that retains the oil plug access door cannot be used as-is because it will contact the Dropbear oil pan when it is threaded-in. You'll need to find a shorter bolt that just engages the nut plate. I found two shorter bolts to install, so that future techs couldn't screw up the install.

Perfect!

Aluminum and an extra quart...win win.

Thank you.

Good call. I'm really disappointed with the OEM lack of oil pickup baffling. Rolling with the shorter dipstick helps, but if you do anything outside of daily drive your Q, the installation of this Dropbear Oil Pan is a no brainer for reducing chances of oil starvation under 'g' load.

Are they worth adding to the shopping list? Or are they slight placebo?

No placebo if you are a spirited driver and enjoy more than straight line pulls. But everyone's idea of what brings value varies. If you look at my history I spent money others wouldn't for 'fancy' JDM washers that likely many people we not even aware of existing for this platform.

But I found a personal value in sourcing them and installing them. Now truth be told, I did not feel any change to the car, but the concept behind the product was what convinced me that it was something I wanted on the Q. To each their own.

I also have a Shelby GT350R and just found out Verus Engineering makes some nice aero pieces for the car and all computer simulated and etc but one of their new products are 'vortex' generators that get placed on the rear roofline. And although I know their is science behind it, for me it seems too ricey and autozone-esk of an upgrade that because that car isn't exclusively track oriented I won't get them.

@PerfectWhiteQ50S said it well, it depends on what YOU value. For me, chassis bracing is a no brainer. Because I auto cross my car, I’m looking everywhere I can to increase my Qs rigidity so I can better utilize its power.

If you’re serious about competing in motor sports with your car, get them. If you want a car can be competitive, consider them. If you don’t even think about hitting a track, don’t waste your money.

I work a ton to have that luxury. And it is a fun car. But the Q is something more tame and subtle that makes driving fun in a different way. I mean truth be told I would have a ton of cars if I had the means to do so. But for now I will drive my work truck more in a month than either of the other 2 in 3 months time.
