Drop Bear Oil Pan

Wasn't too tough. And glad to of picked this up and install. I was due for the oil change service interval anyways. So snagged some fresh Synthetic 0-20 and the nifty NISMO oil filter from Z1.

What was most surprising to me was how much of my old oil was still in the factory pan when dropping it. A little disturbing for me personally. But looks good. Factory shroud fit no issue. And got a nice extra quart of oil to try and keep the snails healthy and happy!

Received my pan today. Of course I was in a critical, time sensitive meeting with my director when it was delivered. So had fun running down the street chasing down the mail van so I could sign for it. 🤣

Also, on a totally unrelated note, I managed to stab myself in the eyeball with a pine needle yesterday. Now I'm ready to spoon it out cuz it hurts like a mofo.

Anywho, hope you all have a wonderful day.

Go for it! I am probably going to cerakote my lower downpipes. Mostly because I'm going to wrap them and don't want to deal with corrosion issues. Even though they are only a temporary part until I finally get my build done.

The pan is beautiful. Kinda makes me feel bad that it's going to hold oil lol

I was gonna do it myself. I already have a power supply from an etching project I did in the past, and anodizing seems to be much the same process. Just a different electrolyte.

I seem to recall someone saying the drop bear oil pan adds a quart of oil capacity. Am I remembering that right?

I think that's right. Hopefully someone can confirm for sure.

Correct.

I can confidently confirm that, as it is the sole reason it is on my list.

Yessir! Got the gasket in about two weeks ago! Just need oil, filter, and time! The wife made plans for this weekend, and I'm getting my windshield replaced the Saturday of next weekend, so maybe that Sunday?

Correct - when I installed the Dropbear Oil Pan on my Q60 Red Sport AWD, along with the "short" dipstick and large Nissan oil filter, it required 7 qts total to get to the top hole on the dipstick.

Perfect! You inadvertently checked my math for me lol. I never bought the new dip stick, I just did 6 quarts and called it a day. I do my own maintenance, so I don't really see the point in spending the money on a dip stick.
Note - for anyone replacing the stock oil pan with the Dropbear oil pan, I encourage pics to be taken of the internals.

I was curious how well the Valvoline Modern Engine oil did internally with 5k mile OCIs & 30k miles on the engine:

Speaking of the "short" dipstick, you can see it in this picture:

You can afford a billeted oil pan but not a $20 dipstick?

I bought the revised dipstick a few weeks ago. $53.76 plus tax from my Infiniti dealer.

I bought mine for $19.xx somewhere else that I don't recall. Definitely not from Infiniti.

I thought about ordering it online, but considering the length and it being such a spindly item, I was concerned with the condition it would arrive in, so I decided to pay more and buy it in person.

I would think that any third party reseller would be buying it from Infiniti and would mark it up. I'm guessing they must get a substantial discount from their source for proprietary Infiniti parts. It's not like you can go to O'Reilly Auto Parts and buy an Infiniti-branded dipstick.

Lmao I can afford the dip stick, I just don't see the sense in buying it when I know the proper capacity. But perhaps I should buy it anyway... Just in case something happens and I HAVE to let someone else change the oil.... 🤔
