I found it amusing:

The Infiniti Q50 long wheelbase model has been unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show, with the firm confirming that the extended Q50 and an all-new QX50 SUV will arrive in China in 2014.

The lengthened Q50 will be a rival for the long wheelbase BMW 3 Series that’s designed to appeal to Chinese buyers who prefer to be chauffeured rather than drive themselves.

The manufacturer also revealed that it will bring over the 3.7 L-powered Q50 to the country next spring, before domestic production begins.

I find it weird to add an extended wheel base model to an already small car. Infiniti is better off doing this to cars like the Infiniti M. The Q50 is Infiniti's smallest vehicle and it should stay that way.

Although im against the idea of an extended wheel base Q50, it'll be interesting to see how sales go for it.

China usually gets long wheel base variants from every manufacturer. A lot of buyers don't drive themselves but rather have personal chauffeurs. The LWB gives them more leg room and it also gives the car better stability.

what you guys think the long wheel base Infiniti Q50 will be called. I know BMW add's "L" to their long wheel base model names. "760li" for example. Should we also expect this with the Q50, being "Q50L" or would they just not brand it differently.

Most likely it will be the M series for infiniti they ever end up doing this. There is much clientele for this type of vehicle though why go for one that is trying to establish themself with in that segment when you have rolls royce and lincoln for the longer wheel base luxury vehicles.

Only Infiniti is also working on a smaller, cheaper, entry level model below the Q50.
