I'm not sure you can add the factory navigation if it didn't come with the initial package.. Maybe I'm wrong but I tried to do that in the past and it just wasn't possible.

I bet it is possible, but it wouldn't be worth doing it. I do know that if you get a Q50 without a spare and want to go through parts that it is almost $2000 to piece together, which is ridiculous. So I would assume that navigation would not be worth the cost, definitely not $1700 like it is as a package with the car.

I don't think this would be worth doing. I did this in my TL and it took a long time to get the parts used and for each part to become available before I could get it done. The wiring harness was a pain in the *** to make but it was doable. And I spent more on it than I would have if I bought the car with it. Wasn't worth it financially in the end for me.

Better off buying a TomTom or similar that fits closely over the existing top screen and just mount that in there. I bet it would be at least $3-4000 to add factory navi to the car.

It may also be possible to do an aftermarket one in that spot? I am not sure, but I bet someone will do it eventually!

Andrew, problem with that is there's a host of other stuff associated with Navi. Infiniti Connection and it's GSM chip - a GPS antenna, much greater voice command capability, etc. I expect you'd really need to know your stuff to install the unit from a totaled car. Not that I'd discourage someone from trying. If someone does it, please take pics and post a how-to.

For the OP the NAV package is $1400 and still not worth the price of admission. If I could have found a plain jane Q50S I would have bought that one.
NAV is nice but not $1400 nice.
I dunno---maybe you don't use the Nav unit that much or you're not familiar with the sheer amount of customization and accessibility that it has, but I'd say it's a pretty impressive unit if you ask me.

I am not familiar with the Nav having just received the car a week ago. And you are correct with its custom features that I need to learn. Yes, $1400 is pricey for a GPS unit

The price is not just about the navi. It's also about the integration and voice control of the navi, phone, climate, etc. As I recall, this integration used to go for about $2K, in other marques. The price has come down, though it's still high.

Well every Infiniti rep has told me they cannot install it afterwords.

I hate looking at that clock all the time! Such a waste of space
Anything can be done if you throw enough money at it.

Go to your local Infiniti parts department ang get a printed list of all the navi components (with diagrams). The total price will be shocking. Now keep a lookout for a wrecked Q50. You know the rest.

I'm on the same boat. The stupid clock drives me crazy. My only hope is that Infinity will come up with upgrade so I can change it to music default. That would make sense. Clock sucks and to change it every time I get in my car makes me tired. Almost sorry I didn't get Navi just for this reason. LOL.

Back in the day, clocks were an option. If you didn't opt for one, you got to look at the dial face (sans numbers). The joke was that it was staring at you saying, "too cheap to buy the clock". The bigger joke was that they were unreliable (mechanical), and soon stopped working.
