Haze after Emblem Removal

345 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  21QSig
Hey guys I just g out around to taking off my rear emblems which I think looks great. One problem however, after taking off the q50 letters, a haze was left around the surrounding letters. The letters would fade away more over time but what’s the best way to get rid of the surrounding haze? Thanks!

I would try a clay bar if you have it, and if that didn't work, a very mild polish made for removing swirl marks. Using it by hand rather than with an electric polisher might be enough for what you are seeing.

I’m gonna get a small clay bar and see how it works. Any recommendations in terms of brand? Thanks a lot!

I have used both the "real" clay and "synthetic" clay from Griot's Garage - I prefer their synthetic clay. If you are looking to buy something local, I think Meguiar's makes a kit that has clay and lubricant.

LOL...I thought other Q owners were hazing you after your emblem removal.

I can only share my story with another car. dark gray. after an emblem was removed, the shop buffed the location. I had no issues.

If its not actually residue thats still on the paint, use a polish or 1 step polish/compound

I removed a dealer sticker a couple of weeks ago, which left some "ghosting" where the sticker was. I had some Adam's One Stop Polish, and it removed the residue and made the area look new again -- two minutes with a dime-sized drop on a microfiber towel and I was done.

I've used other polishes in the past with the same results -- almost any good polish will do the job.
