Hybrid Deluxe Technology Pricing versus Non Hybrid Touring and Tech Packages

9138 Views 39 Replies 15 Participants Last post by  Latrant
So I just checked out the pricing and option differences between the Hybrid Deluxe Technology Package and the Non Hybrid Deluxe Touring and Technology Packages. Looks like the Hybrid Deluxe Technology package is $5,000 and includes every option of the Non Hybrid Deluxe Touring and Technology packages with the exception of Power Tilt/Telescoping Steering Wheel, Direct Adaptive Steering, and folding rear seat. But yet the two Non Hybrid packages are $6,300. I doubt those three options on the Non Hybrid make up the $1300 difference...but I could be wrong!! Am I missing something?!?!

Thoughts?!??

No, you're about right. The cost of the 2 cars, similarly equipped are pretty close. As you've mentioned before, I really want the extra trunk space and the fold down seats. With all of the tech on this car, I want it to be my main driver for trips, etc. so I'm going with the gasser. Right now we typically take my wife's SUV on trips when we are taking people or have large luggage but I don't like driving it that much and the seats are uncomfortable to me.

Plus I don't put that many miles on to save so much in gas costs with the hybrid.

Yup, that is why I'm going with the non hybrid (trunk space and more importantly folding rear seats) so I had not checked out hybrid pricing at all. I became curious after reading some posts that mentioned the cost of the Deluxe Technology package. I also hadn't thought about the resale value in 5-7 years (non hybrid versus hybrid as well as non hybrid no tech package versus tech package)! Lord and here I thought I had it all buttoned up with the exception of color!! Now I am wondering if I splurge on the technology package as well with resale in mind when it is likely most cars will offer a similar tech package! Ahhhhhh

I don't know if this comes anywhere near answering your question however, for what it's worth - the price differential at msrp between the hybrid and non-hybrid Q50s is about $6-7k. However, my dealer told me that the car options are packaged differently and that once they are apples to apples, the real price difference is only about $4300. I still don't see the math working out to get the value out of the hybrid. Start calculating how much gas you'd have to buy before you break even in the cost difference. Other tha 'green' reasons for doing it, it doesn't make sense fr my driving habits.

Hahaha! The video is becoming applicable to more and more situations! :D
with the exception of Power Tilt/Telescoping Steering Wheel, Direct Adaptive Steering, and folding rear seat.

You're right about it not having the folding rear seat, but with the Hybrid does have the power tilt/telescoping steering wheel and direct adaptive steering, which are standard.

Well that's even worse to then have just the rear folding seat be the only difference and the non hybrid packages cost $1300 more! What is up with that?!? Now I'm going to feel like I'm being robbed!! Ha

A fully loaded Q50 hybrid premium is less than $2000 more than a Q50 premium with both selecting all of the options on the Build your own site. If that folding back seat is not a big issue then it is close to a sanity test on getting the Hybrid. At 12000 miles per year and $4/gal gas payback is pretty close to $500/yr figuring 23 mpg avg vs 30 mpg avg. all in town driving would have better numbers.

Well, let's not discuss my sanity! hahaha But unfortunately the folding back seat IS the reason I'm justifying getting another car. I do adore my G37, and the color is FABULOUS (can't even find it on this list: All Infiniti Colors | GTCarLot.com but closest color will be Lakeshore Blue Metallic but it's darker and has more teal), but being single and not really knowing anyone in this town (and I work from home so don't have local coworkers), it becomes a real problem when I need a "truck bed". I've had to return items before leaving the parking lot of stores because I was unable to get into my G37. So gotta get that folded seat. Otherwise, I would consider the move to hybrid considering it is likely a better sell in 5-7 years.
Hybrid has leather seats and DAS standard.

this thread is seriously making me consider switching from a fully loaded gas sport to a fully loaded hybrid sport....The difference in MSRP between the two is only $1,900. For me, that comes to only $890 more over the life of the 39 month life...$23 a month. Say I drive the full 39,000 allowed by my lease, at an average gas price of $3.50 a gallon....gas model gets me combined mpg of 23...39,000 miles divided by 23 = 1,695.65 gallons over the 39 month lease = * $3.50 per gallon = $5,934.78 .... same scenario but on the hybrid gets me 30 mpg ... 39,000 miles divided by 30 = 1,300 gallons * $3.50 per gallon = $4,550 ... hybrid saves approximately $1,385 over 39 months, which equates to $35.51 a month....which comes at the cost of $23 a month.... Decisions, decisions...
$3.50 for premium gas! What state are you from?

Texas. This morning gas was $3.23 for regular, $3.33 for midgrade, and $3.43 for premium.
This morning California added another 3.5 cents of Gasoline Tax taking us up to the highest in the nation at around 71 cents. Premium is around $3.90 at the discount stations and $4.25 at Shell, Chevron and the other big guys. Hybrid is looking better each day.

I used to live in Dallas and California and now in Tennessee. Texas does have good gas prices. I filled up yesterday at Shell and it was $3.89/gallon. Thank goodness for Kroger discounts toward gas at Shell stations. I got gas .50/gallon cheaper!!!

Q50Aggie (I knew you were from Texas as soon as I saw your name!), there is another thread on here somewhere that breaks down the costs between the two and it basically came down to a wash over three year period.

Yep the hybrid pays for itself in gas over a 3 year lease.
