This should give you an idea of how the new InTouch screens / applications are going to work. Obviously this isn't what the final software will look like. And it is primarily intended as an internal training tool. But I don't see anything here that's super secret nor something you can't see by visiting a retailer and getting a good demo from a competent salesperson (although there are some apps that won't become active in actual cars for a few months).

Works really well on a tablet computer because it simulates the whole touch screen UI.

Are you stuck at the "Continue" button on the popup? If so, you just have to be very specific where you click on the Continue button. After that it works great. If that wasn't the problem, maybe you have the original iPad, which may be the issue. But at least the MacBook works well!! I'll have to try it out on my MacBook tomorrow to see if graphics are even more brilliant.

Ok, I'm disappointed that you have to go into the audio menu to access the presets. I'm going to miss hard presets which I think they still could have done. The very best would be what Cadillac did with the cue, they have a short cut bar that you can put all the things you access the most without having to change the screen. You can have radio stations, nav destinations, phone contacts, etc all on the short cut bar. Guess I'll finally have to get used to using the steering wheel.

I think there is a shortcut bar. I saw it when I was playing with the simulator. Plus, surely you can toggle them from the steering wheel buttons.

If Infinity get Intouch to work as it is demoed here, realiably and efficiently, they will have a home run. They will alway be viewed as the company that redefined the standard of the 21st century luxury car. I am not aware of any other company that is even close to this level of user interaction with tools that are becoming second nature to all of us these days. I have a new BMW 535i, a great car in every department, except in the user interface to their Nav system and user interface in geenral, it is so bad, that I rarely use these days their nav system. As soon as I get confirmation that they resolved their computer bugs, I am placing an order for my Q50 (first ever Infinity). Now, the major question is, what color and what model?...but, that will be part of the fun. I am a bit disapointed that they have only three color options for the interior, that is too limiting IMHO.

I have to say, being a software developer myself, its pretty easy to navigate and very user friendly. I've seen some UIs where the features were great but the design and hierarchy was disgusting. But this definitely takes the cake.

I believe the simulator let you customize which audio sources you want to put on your shortcut bar. All you have to do is set them and then click audio, and then the source.

I will miss the hardset button though, but its a small trade-off for what you're gaining in the end IMO.

That short cut bar is only for audio sources and you have to be in the audio menu to see it. On the cue, you can have the same short cut bar visible from any screen and its not limited to just audio short cuts. That is very cool. I'm not saying this doesn't look good, but quickly changing radio stations is the most frequent thing a driver does and putting in an always visible short cut bar or leaving hard presets would have made a lot of sense.

FWIW re: shortcuts:

One of my favorite new things is you can press the voice command button and say "FM 104.5" or "XM 23". It is also very easy to get the radio/audio presets to show up.

Oh, and there's HD radio now too.

On a related note, I played around with the stereo for a while yesterday. It really sounds amazing. Great separation, awesome bass response, and multiple options for tweaking the "feel." I'm not an audiophile, but it was better than any car stereo I've listened to.
