Haha, I saw a few of his posts yesterday. This is why dealerships need to be more careful with the information they tell their potential clientele! Infiniti corporate has always maintained a Summer 2013 release date, then moved it to Later Summer 2013, and have now moved it to August 5th. Whatever dates dealers were announcing (I saw some Youtube videos announcing a June release) were based on internal information that was never meant to be announced to the public--for obvious reasons, too, as things change in such a large-scale project as a vehicle launch.
^^^ If anyone knows, it's the official corporate marketing intern. Glad to have you with us! I believe it and stopped by my dealer this afternoon. They don't have a single Q50 on their lot yet, and quoted the August date also.

Hmm.. I'm a bit confused. So for the dealers with Q50s on their lots, are they still not able to let anyone take them home till 8/5? Is that the release date of the software update?

Or is the required software update available before then?

I was told my car was at the port in CA and would be shipped up to Washington State around 1-2 weeks (this was about a week ago). I'm wondering if I'll be able to take it home (or at the very least, test drive it) before 8/5.

you should be able to take your Q50 home after August 5th (official date), real date depends on your dealer, because they need to make sure they have green light from Infiniti for test drive (sooner than Aug 10th).
I will take delivery of my pre-ordered Q50 in August (DATE: TBD) for sure.:p

I doubt new cars being on the lot this long before they are ready to sell is normal. But cars getting to dealers too early is a good problem to have and they will actually have a sufficient amount of cars on the lots when it actually goes on sale. Again a good thing, so numbers out the gate will be healthy!

Also we should see some reviews by then also to coincide with the launch because the software updates will probably be ready by then and they can throw some cars out to the media. Its all coming together.

This is ALL just MY prediction by the way, holds no weight.

So is the possibility of taking it home before the 5th still there? Or is that no longer something we can hope for?
Wouldn't hold your breath there MCDan. Maybe Infiniti will hand out paper sacks with logos on them that we can huff into until the 5th.

may be, till then memorize the Q50 manuals....:p and educate us all;)

The reason I said may be is because there's intense competition between the dealers and if one sells it before the other (before 5th), that dealer can be on Infiniti's black list because Q50 is a make or break new model for Infiniti. Dealers are independent business but they have to comply with Infiniti's franchise & licensing agreements. If a dealer promised a date before 5th, I wouldn't buy into it. Real date is August 5th.
All the software BS - must have been businees/marketing smoke screen (IMHO).
Good Luck to you.

Is there anyway that I could have that information as like a little signature at the end of my posts, in the spirit of transparency?
:eek:THAT! Is AWESOME!!! I have always wanted a direct connect to Infiniti marketing! Lol. I have thought of some KILLER marketing ideas in my free time. :D

But seriously, welcome to the board and good to have you.

Only thing I want to know, just how big is Infiniti planning to go with the marketing of this car? A lot depends on it.

Well Happy Birthday to me. August 5th is actually my birthday and if my dealer has it by then, I'll pick up my Q50 on that day. Otherwise, I'll wait.

I personally believe that we are going to be coming out with some pretty amazing stuff for the Q50, but of course it will all be up to how the market responds to it. I agree with you on the fact that this vehicle is critical for the brand. It's a crucial first step on a journey to build a more competitive brand-- one that is top-of-mind for any luxury buyer.
Oooohhhhh why'd ya say that! Lol, j/k But yeah there is DEF room for improvement. Particularly the M/Q70. Marketing for that car is pretty much non-existent as far as I can tell besides web banners. But I am excited at the fact that once its refreshed, which I am imagining will be pretty extensive, they can pretty much go at it like its a complete new model and the masses wouldn't know.

Are they planning on doing something to explain the Q/QX thing to the masses to smooth out the transition?

And Infiniti is in DEEP NEED of a VERY confident Superbowl ad!

As far as the controversy surrounding the new changes... Infiniti NEEDS IT! You can't get better unless you change somethings around, and everyone ain't gonna be happy about it. I welcome it and appreciate him coming and shaking up things. Carlos G. did the same thing at Nissan when he first came in.

See... I can keep going. I am forcing myself to stop. lol

And yes, the FX/QX70 seems to be Infiniti's pride an joy. lol
