Infiniti was created in 1989 for the US market, but it has since been expanded to sell in dozens of other countries. Infiniti is now making moves to position Infiniti as a strong international automaker.
Infiniti launched in Europe 5 years ago, but did not enjoy the same success that it did in America. President Johan de Nysschen says that the Infiniti brand is too "Americanized" pointing to the fact that the brand's entry level engine is a 3.7-liter V6 with 330 hp.
Infiniti will offer its vehicles with less powerful engines in other areas of the globe. The Q50 can be had with a 2.2'liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine in Europe.
Sounds like a good plan to me. Give the people what they want!
