Model is slated to feature a four-cylinder petrol & diesel engine

Infiniti has announced plans to stage the European debut of the Q50 at the Geneva Motor Show.

As part of the car's introduction, Infiniti will show off several new powertrains that are a result of their partnership with Daimler. The company withheld further details, but Bernard Loire - Infiniti's Vice President of Africa, the Middle East and Europe (AMIE) - hinted “The Infiniti Q50 is a world-class sports saloon with an engine line-up that will clearly demonstrate its intentions to be a major player within the European premium market."

Detailed specifications won't be released until March 5th, but previous reports have indicated we can expect a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine as well as a four-cylinder diesel engine.

Its the 4 cylinder turbos on the Mercedes Benz cars. They have diesel and petro versions.

It will likely be the 200hp 250hp petrol and the diesel is probably the 2.1 L thats 170hp and 258lbs of torque.

With this new engine coming in to play i wonder if the v6 from infiniti will ever be overlooked since it has been a trademark for them since the vq35de. Seems like smaller displacements with force induction are trending everywhere.

The G25 was a 4 cylinder. I would assume this 4 cylinder turbo Q50 would be somewhat of a G25 replacement.

It doesn't look like it according to this article.

"The engine due for the Q50 will be the next-generation C250 1.8L turbo 4-cyl. mill, which makes 201 hp in the Mercedes model."
