Long-wheelbase cars are still growing in popularity in China, and Infiniti will offer a stretched version of its Q50 sedan to meet that demand.

China is already Infiniti’s second largest market, and holds significant importance for the brand, hence the introduction of a China-specific model to meet the needs of local customers. Beginning next year, both the long-wheelbase Q50 and QX50 will be built at the company’s Xiangyang, China, plant.

Initially, long-wheelbase models built for China were mostly large luxury cruisers like the Mercedes S-Class, but now luxury sport sedans are joining the trend, as BMW announced earlier this year the availability of a 3 Series long wheelbase model for China.

It definitely doesn't make sense to make a long wheel base version of the Infiniti Q50 for North America as we already have so many longer wheel base vehicles to choose from.

Not sure what the car market is like in China but I guess a long wheel base Q50 is suitable for them.

a long wheel base q50 should sell well, usually the additional cost of a lwb model isn't that much, so anyone using this for business purposes or even just for personal uses like hauling around their family in comfort, it will be a good car for that.

It would be good to have a lwb Q50 since it hold luxurious status as it is but the only thin it lacks is leg room so it will be a good alternative for the more higher clientele. If you had to guess how much more will the Q50 lwb model be?

Every manufacturer is bending over backwards for the Chinese market. Every car that lands in China, the Chinese just look at it, regardless of what it is, and say "longer!". They have drivers, and they want to be able to hold their legs straight out without touching the front seats. I thought it was funny when BMW stretched the 3 because this defeats the idea of a compact sports sedan, but here's Infiniti doing the same thing. Why not just give them an M37 with a 4cyl diesel? If you have a driver, comfort trumps performance anyway.
