  1. Hi guys! I’ve had a 2015 Infiniti q50s for the longest recently upgraded to the 2017 sport 3.0! I’ve had my single 10” skar sub and rear skar door speakers and I got a little Curious and wanted to add watts to the rears only so I spliced a + & negative when I accidentally touched them both together it made a popping noise and now I have no sound in the car at all! I did the self diagnostic and it says rear Bose amp red. I’ve unplugged it, the fuses are fine for it, under the driver side foot well both 15 fuses are working, but no sound at all from any of the car speakers now. I was planning on ordering a new amp on eBay but was wondering is there a way to save this amp if it’s dead ?

Unless there's an internal fusible link or fuse in the Bose amp (not aware of any) you may have fried your amp by shorting the speaker output. You've checked fuses #3 and #5 in the fuse block so that isn't the problem. eBay is probably your best bet as you can pick up a used Bose amp for less than $100.

This video shows you how to get to the diagnostic menu.

Sorta off topic, how did you get to that diagnostic screen? I've never seen that before.
Just don't go punching buttons in the diagnostic menu unless you know what you're doing, especially the Reset.

I wanted to turn off the fake engine noise on my 2018 but they must have locked that out in the later model years. Probably been covered in the past on the forum.

I turned ASE off in my 2018 by accessing the enable/disable setting in the Diagnostic Menu. You need to have the Bose system to do so however. If you want to turn off ASE in a non-Bose system, you can always unplug the Active Noise Control unit but you'll lose ANC also.

Thank you Avedis....Where is the unit? Is it easily accessible? Would be interested to try and determine if its an overall improvement in sound.

It's mounted on the bottom of the rear deck (#14) in the diagram below:

Your car will throw a DTC if you unplug it but there shouldn't be any warning lights.

All of a sudden, the sound on my ‘18 Q50 isn’t working, it comes on when I start the car, but goes off, it still shows on the screen it’s on. Still in warranty, I’m just curious what might have happened. Taking it in Wednesday, service guy said he’s seen this happen, but he gave me no idea what it might be. Anyone? Well…..this morning it’s working fine, maybe something loose?

I took the Q to the dealer, of course it’s working. They tested it and can’t find anything wrong. Maybe it was just a glitch?

A pretty safe bet it was a glitch, if it comes back then it would be worth checking to see if there is a firmware update
available for the infotainment.

If you are reasonably close to your dealer, I would just drive directly to the service department if it happens again - don't turn the car off. If service isn't open, find an employee of some credibility and show them what is going on and see if they will vouch for you with the service department so that you can come back and have a service order opened with documentation from said creditable witness. Getting this documented within the warranty period is the best thing you can do. Take a video of the issue with your cell phone.

Where would the Bose amp be?
