Nissan originally created the Infiniti brand to compete with Toyota's luxury brand Lexus in the United States in 1989. Since then, Infiniti has expanded to become a worldwide brand. It seems past time that the brand is offered in its home country of Japan, so in 2014 Japanese people will finally be able to buy an Infiniti at their local Nissan dealership.
Previously, Nissan sold Infiniti luxury sedans in Japan, but they were called the Nissan Skyline. Infiniti will launch in japan by selling its Q50 luxury sedan at Nissan dealerships. There is no word on what the price is going to be as of yet, but we do know that the sedan will be built in a plant in Tochigi Prefecture.

Nissan Skyline
It is anticipated that the Nissan Skyline range will be eliminated as Infiniti is launched as it makes no sense to sell the exact same vehicle under two different badges.
