Infiniti's Build Your Vehicle Pictures

This is just a random question but is there a reason Infiniti has such dull/flat and inaccurate colors of the Q50 on their build application? Before I saw online pictures and the Q50 in person, I would have never considered most of the color options. For instance, the Hagane Blue looks nothing like the pictures, videos and personal accounts by those who have seen it in person. Just seems so odd they wouldn't display the best looking as possible like Lexus, BMW and other sites.

Because they photoshopped the white model and didn't take individual pictures. It was probably just taken from a computer rendering to begin with.

I fully expect them to remove the microsite or heavily update it just prior to launch. The Hagane Blue the site shows is just shameful. The real color looks nothing like that confederate grey/blue.

For paint colors in general - seeing it in person beats photos by far.

It's hard to show depth and paint flakes in photos. Plus 99% of computer monitors are not calibrated for accurate colors. Neither are the cameras that take the photos or the photo processing programs that take them.

It's much better to see them in person before deciding.

Well sure but it is possible to do a MUCH better job than they've done. All other brands have done so, and even Infiniti's other cars. Like Afrosheen said, it is shameful that the colors are just so awful. I do hope that they will revise soon.
I found a listing for a Moonlight White on Stone Sport build (not an AWD Hybrid) but in terms of how my car will look, this is dead on

Well, a lot of car site build applications often run into this same issue.

Very few sites are able to display the colors of their cars with enough detail that accurately show what that color actually looks like on the car itself. It's something that sometimes just can't be conveyed without looking at actual photos of the car at different angles and under proper lighting.
I love that white exterior. Very classy. I really am not a fan of the stone interior. My top color choices are Graphite Shadow, Black Obsedian, and Moonlight White.

You have to admit that the versions on the Build Microsite are not accurate and very dull. Just surprises me that they haven't updated to give more "shine" to reflect the metallic appeal at the very least.

I'm going to attempt to post a picture showing two photos, one from the build site and the other from their explore the Q50 site. They were able to get better pictures for the explore so you'd think they'd just update the build site.

NO idea if the photos will display since I've had no luck doing so in the past on here but I'm on my iPad versus new computer with IE 10, so hoping it is just a compatibility issue and will now work!

Ugh guess not!! I signed up with Flickr just for this forum too. Ahhhhhhh

Another thing to take into account is that this is still an early version of their Configurator. It's meant to be something to tide over for the early reservers. I'm sure they'll update the graphics later in the future once the packages are updated...and maybe this isn't a big deal for me because I do a lot of building with other car site configurators and this is more common than you'd think. In fact, there are some that are a lot worse looking...

In the pictures it look so white which I like. Is it that white in person?
Kimochi,

I think the picture of the stone interior is somewhat washed out.

I would expect it to be a bit darker than that in real life.

I picked the color for the contrasts.

My current car, an 06 IS 350 has the same color set and it all works well together.

I would have gone with Wheat this time but Infiniti does not let you order Sport with Wheat (utter nonsense).

The stone that I saw at the dealership is darker than the picture actually shows. I had a hard time trying to decided between the graphite and the stone, but went with the stone after seeing it. Also like the idea of having the graphite upper dash and upper door panels. To me it gives it a little more character.

I am, however thinking of buying a set of graphite floor mats though.

P.S. I'm neither Korean nor Japanese.
Sorry about that, the auto correct on my iPad changed the spelling to a word it recognizes and I missed it

Now fixed in my post above

The last pic is wheat. I like the two tone interiors but those light carpets...ugh, hope you walk from one chunk of marble to another.

Or you could just place a set of clear floor mats over them to keep them clean. Which, I have done with my current wheat floor mats and it has worked out perfectly.

No offense, but I think that looks tacky. Like having plastic wrap on your couch at home. Dark floor mats is the winning idea in my humble opinion.
