I believe the q60’s have ambient lighting on the door trims, how can this be accomplished in a q50? wiring it to the inside of the door panel for a clean look.

I've been wanting to add the ambient light/silver optic trim to my Q50 for a minute now.

Also need someone to confirm if the finishing trims from a Q60 would fit our Q50's. If you just wanted the ambient lighting I'm not sure you can just get it without the trim accompanied with it, so you would likely need to replace all trim to match(at least in the front); parts/links listed below.

Neat thing about the cup holder is it comes with the illumination too, not sure how I would wire these in.

Total comes out to $490 w/o shipping(+$40).

If anyone has any input I would love to hear!

The ambient lighting kits in the Q50 are so lame though. It's only 2 LED's.

What I did was buy the accessory harness from Nissan, and just use that to put my own LED's where the kit puts the factory ones. Cost about $30 dollars and there is no wiring involved, besides following the instructions on the adapter harness from Nissan.

Found a write up someone posted on the internet on how to wire up the cup-holder. You will need google translate lol, but it seems they tapped into the Air Suspension Meter that is apparently connected to the fuse box. Can anyone confirm this?

meh all I did was drill holes in the base of of the cup retention clips (so you can't see them), then put an LED in the center console. Total cost: $10 dollars.

Can I get pics of the ambient lighting you installed in the door panels and the cup holders by any chance? I'm really curious and want to do this to mine. Thanks.

I took it out because I'm selling the car.

I did however retroactively install them in my Mercedes, and they use fiber optic pipes and a light engine (LED) to do their interior lighting. So I bought two of the OEM light tubes ($8 each), mounted those in center console OEM spots. Then I bought 2 LED light engines for $12 on ebay and used those to power the fiber optic pipes. Worked and I can change all the colors and stuff to whatever I want, or have it change or breathe or whatever.

For the doors I would see if you can get either just the fiber optic inserts like Mercedes, or if Nissan won't sell them, buy the whole door card insert then power it that way.
