Cool story, bro;

So, I have a loaner 2013 BMW 328 for the weekend. While I had it, I made some rounds to a few dealerships to compare & contrast the Q50, the Lexus IS, and a Caddy ATS.

When I was done with it all, I was left thinking a bit comical that all three of these cars are more or less at the same price point. The Lexus was a close 2nd to the Infiniti in terms of interior quality, but the Caddy was way off, and the BMW that I've been driving all weekend now seems downright chintzy. It's mostly funny to me, because before the Q50 came along, I thought both the BMW and Caddilac were kinda nice.

So anyways, I guess the point is, congrats on picking the Q50 :p

Could you be more specific in terms of what trim levels of each car that you looked at? I ask because as you might already know, interiors can become night and day for the same car depending on the trim level/options it might have.

Lexus IS was the "standard" trim. However, I'll point out that this standard IS 250 rang up at about the same 44~46k as the Q50 I saw.

The BMW I have is the sport trim, which as far as I know only comes one way and costs 43k before you start adding any options.

I'll concede that the Caddilac was a lower trim level. It might excuse the seats, but I'm pretty sure it's otherwise the same materials being used in everything else that you see and touch in front of you.

Are you buying a q50?
I'll still no doubt test drive an IS, but I feel like I've already settled on a Q50 (haven't driven either, though). It's about as close to perfect as I think I can hope for. Like you, I wish it had active cooled seats, but I think that thread about the long distance drives got me over that. It's mostly a matter of whether I get a first production year, or hold off until 2015.

I think Infiniti has (for a long time) had the interior class and quality mastered. Has a way of outshining other high end cars IMO:)
I dunno, Infiniti interiors took a long time to get going, specifically for the G sedan.---I always thought Audi and Lexus had the upper hand for the most part when it came to interiors for a while, but these days, they're almost all on the same level with BMW falling behind (in this segment especially).

Totally agree! It was the interior of the 2006 M that first had me drooling.

I prefer the Q50 interior over the Merc E, Audi A6, Lexus is/gs.... Well just about anything except the Model S...
