Just heard back from my rep at the dealership. He checked with his tech and said the app will be released in February.

Has anyone heard anything different?

Haven't heard anything to the contrary, but that sure is disappointing news if true...
Did he say which year?

Wow, the website said Fall? Some said December? But now it's in Feb?

Also, disappointing that there is a fee for using the apps after trial ends. The 2014+ Lexus doesn't require a subscription to use free apps like Pandora etc etc.

Where did you hear that there would be a fee to use the apps? If that's true, it's going to be very hard to convince any third party developers to support inTouch. (And it's going to be very hard to convince me to ever consider buying another Infiniti.)

Actually it's not that bad. Only $19.99 a year to continue to use it.

Thanks for the info. I hadn't seen this before. And, you're right, $19.99 isn't bad. Actually, its so little that it makes me wonder why they bother charging it at all... seems like "Free Apps" would be worth more than the little bit of cash they might make from it.

And the hits keep coming. Between a long list of things (principally electronic) that just don't work right on the car and which so far haven't been able to be fixed, and now this, I can't say I'm too impressed with my first Infiniti.

Interesting that you would need a subscription even though it uses your phone's app to play through the car and its only a front end that shows up on the inTouch screen.

Maybe the subscription is only for the ability to download more apps later down the line?
Maybe we won’t ever have to pay for a subscription. At the rate Infiniti’s going, we’ll never get an update.

I hope you were joking. He said 2014.
I hope the February thing is final. It's kind of disappointing buying a new car on the premise of having all this new technology, just that now I have to wait another 90 days or so to have access to it. And even then it could be longer.

I also don't get why they need to charge $20 a year for a subscription. The car is supposedly going to use the bandwidth that we already pay for on our phones for streaming purposes right?

So what are we paying for exactly? Is it just the ability to have our phones communicate with the intouch system in the car in order to sync/download apps?

$20 bucks for free aps which use my phone bandwidth paid for by self seems like a no go for me.

Has anyone tried playing music from Pandora ap on phone, and blue tooth sinc with the radio yet? Does that work?
This whole app concept is stupid.

We don't need new apps. Our smartphones already have all the apps we want. What we need is a dumb terminal/screen that lets us access our smartphone screens, and operate the phones via touch/knob/voice etc.

I don't need yet another calendar app. I like the one I'm using now (Week Cal). Pandora? Is that a joke?

And then the endless subscriptions. I paid 50k for the car, but they still want to nickel & dime. That's a particular peeve of mine. Hey, charge an extra hundred bucks, in the car, and stop bothering me.

Without the update, I guess you'll just have to put up with just driving the car and listening to music on the radio, CD, iPod, etc. and using your phones for communication- hopefully, you'll have the rolling office sometime next year.

Haven't tried this, but I have tried it with youtube and the audio comes right through. This is with a Samsung Galaxy S3.

It seems like it plays every single sound that comes through my phone when it's on BTA audio selection. So in theory it should work with any app. What I'm more interested in is integration of other apps such as social media, google, yelp, and others that feed you information conveniently on a bigger screen while driving.

This works fine for me on my iPhone using iTunes radio. In fact, the iTunes radio playlists appear on the inTouch display regardless of whether I connect via USB or Bluetooth.

Agree, but even the basic interface is a buggy mess. I just can't understand how it passed the QA tests. Unless we are the QA testers.

No way I am forking over $20 for what should be free...
I'd rather they focused on InTouch performance (really tired of the 30-45 second "Apps are loading" crap every time I have started the car). That, and rethink the hot mess of an information architecture they sort of designed. Apps are a nice-to-have. Reliability and intuitiveness are not.
