Start you car and select personal and then press menu and go to engine trans /steering settings and the setting s/b saved in your personal setup. Every time you start the car after a while(60 seconds) it should switch to your setting but if doesn't then you have to switch to personal mode from mode selector to personal as car will start in standard mode.

This is the one thing that drives me nuts about my Q50, the fact that I have to manually shift the drive mode to Sport every time I start my car. If only there was a way to have it default to your preferred mode :(

Or at least save the last mode you were in. That would be good enough. But yeah, theres not way for it to store the last mode or a preferred mode, you have to change it to personal everytime. I dont see the point of personal mode if you have to keep changing it everytime you get into the car.

Maybe we should contact Infiniti Consumer Affair and request to have the next software update to be able to default to the drive mode we selected when we started our car.
If we don't do that, they will not know about it.

1. That's how it's supposed to work. Defaults to standard every time you start the car. Unless cvipgo is right (which I doubt - but I'll try his suggestion later)

2. Sounds to me like the salesperson/dealer who sold you the car is incompetent. They never turned on Infiniti Connection for you, or never turned on the TCU in the car. Make sure you score them accordingly when you get your email survey.

If the problem is IC not being set up, you can do that yourself. www.infiniticonnection.com. Set up an account with your email address and the VIN number for your car. After you do that, log in, select your car and click on Infiniti Connection to complete the set up. Enter all the info, skip the credit card part and you'll be set. Press the SOS button in the car to complete the whole thing and confirm that you did it right. Dealer still needs to set up Infiniti Personal Assistant for you.

Just throwing this out there, but ICA called me the other day to let me know about the update for the car, but my car was already in the dealership to get it done. I called them back and left two messages and never heard back from them. I gave them my cell phone number and house number and didnt get a response back. I feel like the people who originally dealt with customer issues at ICA did a better job than the new people that are handling the cases.

This is bad. I would prefer to have the car next morning same way I left it this evening. Even shuffle mode for audio should stay the same! Nothing more annoying than do same actions again and again. It's example of poor design for me.

Google maps, mail not available yet though, right?

I watched the video which is nice, but not available on my car yet as far as I can tell. I tried to follow the steps here and I get a message that my phone is not connected which I then searched to find out that feature is coming in the Fall patch. Am I missing something? I can't wait to start enjoying some of the real reasons I bought the car. Thanks.

You're not missing anything. Those features wont be available until the next fall update comes out. There should be an update for the Q as well as an app release for your phone to communicate with the inTouch system in the car.

Thanks, that's what I thought. However I did figure out how to get the Infiniti Connection stuff working which I believe is what the original question was asking (rather than what the video showed).

Is it me, or are the current apps in IC awful? I loved the idea of being able to quickly see my schedule or news headlines/scores while stuck in traffic. It might even be worth the few hundred bucks a year they charge after the trial is over. But this system is just not usable. You seriously can't show the calendar or score on the screen? Waiting for it to be read to you, one line at a time, without date info on scores, and stuck listening to news stories you don't care about? I get the idea of not wanting you to look away from the road to look at the screen, but I found myself spending more time looking at the screen to skip to what I wanted to know than if it was just there in the first place. Just plain bad. Bring on the non-IC apps ASAP!!!!!

Sorry for venting, but I feel like I wasted an hour or more of my life setting up something I'll never want to use again. For $50k, i'd expect better.

Yea the IC apps are pointless and a waste of space--particularly the sports scores & news feeds. A joke.
