I have my iPhone 5S paired and everything but when I go to the intouch screen to text messages, it won't work. It says it's unavailable.

Any idea on how to fix this please??

IOS is not fully compatible but you can get InTouch to alert you when a text comes in and read it to you. You just cannot respond to a text at this time. In order to get that working you need to make the following change on your iPhone 5s

1. Go into Settings on your iPhone
2. Select Notification Center
3. Scroll down until you see Messages which is in the Include section
4. Select Messages and under Alerts turn on:"Show in Notification Center"

That should make it possible for the Q's InTouch system to signal when a text arrives and then to read it back to you.

Hope that works

One other item you may need to check on in order to get the iPhone 5s working.
1.Go to Settings on your iPhone
2. Select Bluetooth
3. Find the Q50's connection. It might be labeled as "MY-CAR"
4. Press the Icon that looks like an "i" with a circle around it.
5.Make sure that Show Notifications is enabled.

Orrin, thanks for trying, but negatory on success as those settings have already been applied.

So sorry.
It is working with my iPhone 5s with those settings.
Can't think of anything else that should get it going.
Perhaps you will have to wait until the next release of InTouch.

One more idea:
Assuming you are connected with Bluetooth, I had heard of some folks changing the Bluetooth connection under one of the Bluetooth Maintenance Screens in InTouch. I recall something about two settings for how data is transferred back and forth. I think it was for playing music but someone had changed that setting and got text messaging to work, then changed it back and text messages continued to work. Sounds a bit like voodoo to me, but you might want to try it. Probably cant hurt anything.

Turn on "show notifications" in the Bluetooth profile on the iPhone.

Change the connection method on the Q50 from "From Unit" to "Bluetooth Audio Device" and back again allows you to receive texts through InTouch.

Can't find where that second part is done.

iPhone = Q50 = well made, not for everyone
Android = Versa = cheap, disposable

iPhone = played out same design since 2006 (copied from the LG Prada). For people who are trying to be "cool".

Overall, a phone is a phone. And Android is not "cheap". Look at the S4 or the Sony Xperia Z.

Sure there are cheap Android devices, just like the cheap iPhone devices (iPhone 5c). C stands for cheap?

Really don't care what phone is derivative from what other phone, etc. That's for the phone nerds to worry about.

Like the Q50, I prefer well made quality products. I don't know anyone who has had an Apple product and had it fail. By the way, I personally prefer Microsoft OS, because I know it so well, and am comfortable with it.

On the other hand, I know many people who have had Android based phones and had to replace them because they crapped out. Not faulting the OS. It's just that they're made for mass market distribution/consumption.

Apple, like Infiniti, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, play to a higher end market. It appreciates quality, and can afford to pay extra, to get it.

Call me a Quality Nerd.

Android phones are absolute crap. I try them since I am a techy but always go back to the iPhone. Nothing beats the build quality, camera, and overall software on an iPhone.

That said, I finally got the text messaging to work. Going to settings on my phone under Bluetooth and turning on show notifications worked!

LG Electronics has claimed the iPhone's design was copied from the LG Prada. Woo-Young Kwak, head of LG Mobile Handset R&D Center, said at a press conference, “We consider that Apple copied the Prada phone after the design was unveiled when it was presented in the iF Design Award and won the prize in September 2006.”[9]

It follows a pattern. The whole GUI concept was created by Xerox. Not realizing its value, they practically gave it away to Apple.

Microsoft's ms-dos is derivative of cpm.

You do realize that just about everything that they have been arguing in court has to do with UI/UX and the essence of how you use the phone, right? LG Prada has nothing to do with it and those who keep harping on the "rectangular screen defense" simply don't understand UI/UX. The exterior design has something to do with that but isn't the whole story.

I presume that you do recall what phones looked, felt and acted like before the iPhone...? Typically even the most hardcore lovers of (insert other brand here) do not dispute the notion that Apple moved the phone industry forward. They taught everyone else how to make a "smart phone".
