Here we go again. I wonder if actual owners and professional reviewers
are getting the same cars. Unfortunately from my limited experience I tend
to agree with the professional reviews.

-DAS! didn't expect that one
"Steering wheel feels like the column terminates in a jar of molasses,"
LOL!

"I get the sense that they've built this car to appeal to feuding couples where one party wants a hybrid, the other a sports car. I can assure them that both will be disappointed."

Ouch.

So the hybrid boasts great fuel savings. Is one of the quickest hybrids in the market

yet its not a very good hybrid and its not a very good sports car because you don't like how the DAS feels and you don't like how the brakes feel.

I honestly think people blow the DAS thing way out of the water.

yes its not the best steering system in the world for sporty feel - but they make it sound like its the worse thing to happen to cars ever.

Interesting article. I disagree though; when I drove the gasser sport I was completely blown away by the chassis and sport capabilities of the car. The steering felt "new" to me (as it is), but nothing than I couldn't get used to or even excel in.

Since I'm considering a hybrid (but have yet to drive one), can any of you hybrid S owners comment on the brakes?

The Q50 S gasser I drove had strong, quick grabbing brakes with almost no pedal travel (exactly to my liking). Thanks.
It's like all the car magazines think the cool thing to do is bash on the Q50, and I'm not sure why.

Steer-by-wire shows its limitations on back roads. "Weirdest feeling ever," said technical director Frank Markus. "It almost feels like I'm in a classroom simulator, and the instructor is constantly modifying my steering inputs."
Why didn't those idiots turn off active lane control. That was their complaint, and all they had to do was push a button in the inTouch system to turn that off.

Some even went to say the steering is "atrocious"

Having test driven the Q50 with DAS, that is such a ridiculous statement.

Yes it feels artificial (because it is), but it is very precise and adjustable to anyones liking. One thing I will say is, it certainly isnt the magical steering rack found in the G37, which is one of the best in the industry.
The Q50 hybrid is not a car where you test drive it a couple of time and thing you know it all. It's definitely take times to get use to the hybrid drivetrain to know it full potential.

Motortrend complain about the braking. It's true the brake is not that smooth and it felt like mushy (as other have described). But, I haven't heard any of my passengers front and rear complain about my braking. Once you get used to the braking and applied the proper pressure to the brake pedal, it can brake smoothly. It does take time to get use to the hybrid braking system.

Motortrend complained about DAS. Again, no mention of steering setting and Personal mode. I wonder if they just test drove it in Standard mode. The Standard mode steering is not the best steering setting for driving the Q50.

Mothertrend on Q50 Hybrid EV. This really tell me they definitely don't know much about how the EV work. How could they since they only test drove it briefly. I can easily get 100 - 180 miles by driving in EV in a tank of gas. If you drive the Q50 hybrid long enough, you will know how to put it in EV mode driving.

And their summary, " "I get the sense that they've built this car to appeal to feuding couples where one party wants a hybrid, the other a sports car. I can assure them that both will be disappointed."

I'm not disappointed with my Q50S hybrid. I don't think any Q50 hybrid owner agree with that statement. The Q50 hybrid is fast and handle great. It's more of a luxury than a sport car, but it still very capable to drive it a like a sport car especially you replace the RFT with high performance non-RFT.

With the right tires, sport mode, traction off and battery is full, it probably can drop down to 4.5?

I won't disagree about the brake feel, it's terrible, however the DAS is the way of the future and I like it. The problem with these magazines is that they want and expect every car to drive on a track and perform fantastic. I would love that too but reality is that I use my car for commuting and the odd day to tear up some curves. 99.9% of the people that drive their car don't track them and never come close to driving a car to it's potential. This is what infuriates me with these rags. Now, am I bias, yeah a little but having owned pure sports cars before, I think this car is a very nice compromise. Not to mention I don't care if I can get EV to work all the time, I am getting 29 to 30mpg in the city a far cry from the 17 to 19 I have been used to getting.

From a car enthusiast point of view, I still think it's the best Hybrid out there for the price. And it I've saying this cars 0-60 times are in the 4's!

I don't understand WHY we keep worrying about what these reviewers are saying?? They aren't really true Q50 owners...They don't know how to drive or use the Q50.....Watch when other brands adopt this same technology how they will be jumping on the bandwagon.....:confused::confused:

I disagree that the brake feel is "terrible". Maybe you, like the reviewers have to learn how to use them. I have been driving a Nissan LEAF for three years and have learned how to use hybrid brakes. And I have a GT-R, so I know what good brakes are all about.

You don't have to get nasty, I think I know "how to use them", stopping power is great, feel, well that is something else and I don't think it's good. Your GTR should be good and I bet they feel much better than the Q's. Chill out man.

Yeeah, poor choice of words on my part. However, saying that I am like the guys in the article and should learn how to use the brake was kind of a snide remark that I didn't understand why he responded that way towards my opinion. Anyway, no big deal.

Actually that is what makes sense, since it's the same ole same ole as if the reviewers don't really have much or enough to say as it is.

And then with the same ole same ole reviews...we get the same ole same ole reactions and posts and comments. Then we act suprised to be getting the same ole same ole reactions.

To me it's like this....You can say what you want about your family members, but when someone else keeps saying it, you go to a whole new level.
