I've been an owner of a Q50S AWD, fully loaded from pre-order / delivery. I've been tracking a number of issues / complaints / dissatisfaction issues with Consumer Affairs and my retailer. So far, none of them have been resolved to my satisfaction. Most, have come back as 'as designed'. That doesn't mean I'm happy with the way it has been designed and I'm starting to think about my options. This is my 4th Infiniti so I have others to compare common features to.
Here is my list. Please let me know your experiences with these.
1. Auto-High Beam head lights are very inconsistent. Driving down the same road on different nights or 30 minutes apart, the behavior of the high beams will be different. The dealer suggested they work as designed. They thought my toll device was too close to the sensor. I have taken it out of the window and still experience the same.
2. Steering wheel heating is unevenly distributed around the steering wheel, isn't very warm at all and turns off based on cabin temps even though I want it on. Again, this has come back as, 'as designed'. The design is worse than prior generations and worse than the 2014 M37 i had as a loaner. The M was very evenly distributed and about 3 times warmer.
3. Seat belt motor engages shortly after starting the car and putting the car in drive. It isn't the same intended response you get when applying the brake heavily. It is a 'tug-release-tug-release-tug-release' (gently). This has been very intermittent. The dealer could not make this happen for themselves. I did have an instance of the seatbelt warning in the dash indicate that the seatbelt wasn't engaged when it was.
4. inTouch screen sensitivity varies. Sometimes I can tap an icon as I would on a tablet or smartphone and it engages. Other times, I need to tap several times or press harder for it to recognize the interaction. Again, intermittent and has come back as 'as designed'.
5. Wind noise. I thought this car was designed to be quieter, more air tight. However, it is noisier than my 2011 FX35 and noisier than the M37 the dealer provided as a loaner. This also came back as 'as designed'.
I did receive the DAS update that was recently sent to us as a service bulletin. I fortunately have not experienced any issues with the DAS previously so hopefully doesn't change that.
As others have suggested, the RFTs suck in snow as compared to conventional tires on my prior 2010 G37x, the M37 the dealer provided as a loaner or our FX35.
As to the top5 items, what have your experiences been? Have you had these issues and Infiniti resolved them? If so, what was the resolution? Are these non-issues for you?
I have the ear of Consumer Affairs as I have been speaking with them over the past few months. I'm interested to see who else is having any similar issues.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
David
