From a bit of reading it appears some of you have started to get invoice pricing or better. Until yesterday I assumed dealers still weren't moving off of MSRP. Local dealer called me yesterday asking if I was still interested and they're now authorized to make deals. So what does this mean? Is the Q50 not doing as well as Infiniti hoped (August 5th-now) I saw last months Manufacturer numbers and Infiniti not so hot or as hot as you would have expected with a new flagship car launched. Anyway.. I just find it interesting. I'm on the fence (again) about buying in. Seems as though the Q50 still has bugs to work through.. Feedback welcomed.

If you are still on the fence about it, I would wait it out for ~6 months until the software bugs from the InTouch system are worked out. Software errors like these take a long time to iron out.

Was at the dealer today getting first oil change and TCU activated, while I was waiting I saw a guy in the showroom checking out a Q50 and started chatting with him for a bit. It was funny, he thought I worked there and after we were done talking about the car he said that I knew more about the car then any of the salesmen he had previously talked to. LOL.

He stated that he was not in a rush to buy and I advised him that was a good thing as they are still working out the software issues. I told him to wait until the spring and should also be able to negotiate a better price then also. He was grateful for the advice from someone who actually owns one.

Getting below invoice should be easily possible

You need VPP to get invoice. I don't think you'll get anywhere close to invoice without VPP.
I got 1K below invoice plus another 1K for loyalty so got 2K below invoice pretty easily without any VPP.

This was for a lease with Zero down payment and if I was buying I would have got another $1250 IFS incentives for buying which would have taken my price to $3250 below invoice for a purchase if I financed through IFS.

The key is to pick an in stock vehicle which is in abundant supply. If you want the fully loaded ones which are in access of 50K it might be little difficult to get below invoice but getting invoice less all incentives should be easy.

In my area of NY metro there were more than 500 cars in the configuration I wanted (check inventory on edmunds.com) on dealer lots so I didn't even consider stepping in a dealership which wanted anything over Invoice.

You keep saying this.. asked you in another thread what dealer you bought from... I haven't seen anyone going $1000 below invoice in the tri-state...

Jason,

I forgot to update that thread with dealer info as it went off topic with another discussion.

Got the car from PEPE Infiniti in Whiteplains, NY. I talked with you as well. I am the guy from Rockland county NY if you recall. Kings infiniti in Brooklyn offered at invoice as well as their 1st offer.

BTW Ramsey infiniti is offering 1K below invoice on Truecar.com right now without any negotiation for Premium with AWD. When I bought it they were offering 500 below invoice and I know its for purchase and not lease.

Oh.. I remember... you said if I did invoice and matched Kings you would buy from me.. I agreed and never heard back from you... exact reason why I've stopped giving exact numbers to people on this forum or pushing anyone on here lol..

Not JUST you, to clarify.. I could go down a list of people who took up way more of my time when in reality they were just using me against their local dealer

No offence but you told me the best you can do which was to match other dealer at invoice price.

I shopped a little more and got a better deal by 1K than your best offer and you already had told me that you can't do much lower so I didn't want to bother you anymore. If I bought from another dealer at the price you had offered after talking with you than it was not fair on my part. I got a better deal by 1K at a dealer 15 miles from me compared to 50 miles for your dealership. What would you have done if you were in my place?

I appreciate your efforts on the forum and the time you take in giving exact numbers but that only helps you in closing some sales. Not every person you quote in your dealership with exact numbers buys the car from you especially if they get a better price from elsewhere.

Not everyone buys, but when an "offer to do business" is made.. then tge other party agrees to it? It was never a legitimate offer and tgere was obviously nothing honest about our "business" dealings since you intended on continuing to shop regardless of what I said..

not meant as a personal attack.. to each their own.. just pointing out that people doing exactly that are why I have backed off from the forums lately.. if I offered a number to do business with someone on here and backed out Id be a d-bag salesman... I dont do business like that and can count numerous people on this forum who have wasted a lot of my time when there was no real interest in doing business with me so for the most part im done with that..

Just caught the "fair" part of your post.. kind of funny coming from someone who made an offer at a price that was accepted when they intended on shopping the rest of the tri-state anyway.. just saying lol..

I was able to get my Q50S hybrid (with options MSRP $56,500) for $53,000 without VPP. That's about 800 over invoice. But it was a rare color with those options (Chestnut bronze). Also, I live in Knoxville TN and had to drive 180 miles to Nashville to get that deal. The local dealer would have none of the negotiating.

I see what you are saying and like you said to each his own. I was serious about buying the car and I did buy it within few days of talking with you and my objective was to pay the least I can, like your objective is to get the highest price you can for any given car.

Whether you want to back off from forums is up to you but if you were not as active over here I wouldn't even know about you and would have never made contact with you. I see this as free advertisement for you and your dealership and it can never hurt a sales guy to be out there in the market with prospective buyers reading such forums before making the purchase. I know not everyone will be serious when they contact you but being a very good sales guy, you would know a serious prospect from someone wasting your time.
