same here, never understood, that. it's okay in cheaper cars but not in something like this. I was always a fan of screens integrated into the dash, looks so much more classy

I thought the tacked on iPad was a cost cutting measure in the CLA. Looks like its a new Mercedes trend! While Merc is busy regressing infotainment Infiniti went and stuck a television set in the Q50s center console...

I dont get it, Even Acura RLX has a similar setup to Q50 in the center stack.. Did Mercedes miss the meeting?

You and me both. I really like it, especially since it helps it get to eye level which I think is the main reason it was placed there.

All the other ones are at eye level as well - like that of the Q50 and the Acura pic posted above.

Here's another way to look at it. Did Mercedes do the same on their flagship S-class that just premiered?

Nope.

Are they going to do it with their upcoming S class coupe? If the concept is anything to go by, nope.

They just leave it for the cheapie ones. I suspect the next E-class will be more like the S class interior than the upcoming C-class interior

I can just imagine the roasting that Infiniti would take if it put its Nav unit tacked on the dash like that. Gee, since Benz did it, it must be O.K? B.S.

While I do agree about the positioning of the screen, this car will/does have many other appealing attributes. The new S-Class is beautiful & full of bestoke features/options that you would expect when spending $100k on a car. The fact that some of these are trickling down to the C-Class is a smart move by MB. I personally love the variety of controls on the steering wheel including windows & headlight controls. The ability to adjust damper setting & ride height via Airmatic is another fantastic feature. Curious to see the confirmed exterior styling and pricing for a well optioned model. Guessing the C350 Sport with a couple options will run about $5k - $8k more than a loaded up Q50. MB would need to do remarkable things to the exterior to catch my attention, the current body style does nothing for me.
