So, I've participated in several threads and even started a few myself regarding the update that supposedly came out 10/24 (people are calling it 1.9, also being referred to as software version 2.3.7.0646).

After my dealer made an appointment for me to have this installed last week (I already received the update in late September v1.75 or 2.3.7.0578), I showed up at the dealer only to have them tell me that my car didn't qualify based on the VIN#.

This sent me into a frenzy, especially since several other forum members were getting the 10/24 update done and enjoying their new SiriusXM traffic info. Pictures have even been posted.

I called Infiniti several times and was repeatedly told that there was no 10/24 update and that I had the most current software.

I requested that my call be escalated, and this morning I received a call from Nissan Consumer Affairs.

The rep, named Bryanna, was cordial as she explained what the status was (although I could tell she had fielded many calls about this and was at the end of her rope).

According to her, my v1.75 is the most current update for vehicles on the road now. The mini-update that came out on 10/24 was supposed to be for vehicles unsold and that if dealers were installing this on vehicles already on the road, they would not be reimbursed for this. Basically, there is a group of dealers installing updates without authorization from Infiniti.

I asked her why I wouldn't have access to the same updates that someone buying the car in the next few days.....she didn't have an answer.

I asked her why some people have system version 2.3.7.0646 when I only have 2.3.7.0646....she didn't have an answer but asked me to send pictures of screenshots to her (which I did).

I asked what Infiniti was planning to do about the 3 month trial of SXM traffic that would surely expire before most of us got the update which activated it........she didn't have an answer.

I thought I would post this in an effort to get more info out there.....not looking for solutions, I'll wait a while and see what comes nect from my dealer.

Someone from Nissan has got to address the confusion and misdirection that's out there....perhaps I'm guilty as well, since I take what I read on some of these threads as gospel...who knows.

This is really interesting. Is there any info about which VINs are supposed to get the 10/24 update? I find it odd that the newer cars would be able to get the SXM app and the older ones would not.

This is true. My dealer even told me I didn't qualify for the update, and that they were only supposed to install them on unsold cars...but as a courtesy, they installed it on my car because of the many issues I had been having. Nothing will surprise me anymore with this car. I am even willing to bet that once we get the next update with all the apps, if we ever get it, it will be plagued by dozens of additional bugs...Why do you think it's taking so long to get it to us...because they realize it is also buggy...but I doubt they'll get it all fixed. 36 months can't come quick enough....

My dealer installed 1.9 (2.3.7.0646) update with no issues last Wednesday (10/30) and gave me a loaner Q50 also as I didn't want to wait for an hour

According to Nissan, no cars that are currently on the road should have the 10/24 update....so the VIN appears to be irrelevent.

Still scratching my head....I'm being a bulldog about this because I still don't believe I've gotten the real story. There doesn't seem to be any fluidity to any story thus far.

I feel like I'm dealing with Comcast.....I get 6 different stories after speaking with 6 different people

Yup, and therein lies the problem...some dealers are doing it, unauthorized and without getting paid according to Nissan.

i would suggest you start complaining about failed applications on your car to your dealer.
That should prompt them to update the software.
You can read on this forum what you need to complain about, ie phone connectivity shutting down when you turn off the engine..
good luck

There was a salesman (not sure if it was Sinecure or pgh) who mentioned in another post a directive from Infiniti that unsold cars get the updates first, then only AFTER that will Infiniti allow cars already in customer hands to get the update.

I know the feeling. I felt the same way when I first got the car. It wasn't until my dealership started to take a look at the car and had an engineer come to look at it that I started to feel like things were getting done. My dealership actually went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied.

I still find it weird that they made the statement that new cars would get the new SXM app but the older ones on the road would have to wait longer. Makes me thing what changes were made to the intouch and if these newer ones are working with a different framework than the original ones like ours.

I just took possession of mine on Saturday. I checked when I went out to lunch and it does have the current version installed (2.3.7.0646), so based on that it does seem that they are updating the inventory units first.

Just called my dealer here on Long Island. They are not doing the update to cars that got the previous update installed. They said they will email me when the update is ready for my car.

I did also mention that it got cold here in New York and my system takes so long to boot up. When it finally does I always have no map. Just a black screen that says "problem loading map". I do not have this problem when the weather is warmer. This is incredibly frustrating. It seems that when its below 45 degrees I have no map. Once the car warms up and I start it up after a little while it usually works. Anyone else here have this problem? Its kinda ridiculous, as the cold weather has just started. you mean to tell me I will have no map data all winter when I start my car? This is dumb.

I must've missed that in the pile of 200 responses.....just so everyone who reads this thread can see it - this explains everything I was questioning.

*******from another forum member's post*****

It's from an email I received from the Infiniti East Region DOM addressed to District 4 Dealers...

Subject: ***Important - Software Update - Version 1.9 - Arrives Thursday 10/24 AM ***

District 4 Dealers:

Great news! We have a Q50 software update, Version 1.9, that is shipping to your dealership to arrive tomorrow 10/24 AM via Fed Ex. Do not deliver a new Q50 until the Version 1.9 software update has been completed on that specific vehicle! You should start updating all of your Q50 inventory upon receipt of V1.9 USBs. You will receive 1 USB for every 20 Q50 units you currently have in inventory. I recommend discarding your older software version USBs once you receive the V1.9 USBs tomorrow. You don’t want to get them mixed up.

This update will:
· Bring Q50 dealer stock up to production specifications
· Add Sirius Travel Link to the vehicle (Customer receives a 3 month trial)
· Improve general performance of the system
· Allow customer to download future apps from their smartphone rather than come in for another update
· Take approximately 1 hour to complete (update requires approximately 15 minutes of babysitting the vehicle when the update is started)

Current Q50 owners will be notified of the update starting later this month.

If a customer comes in for the update because they heard about it then you can perform the update, but you will not be able to claim it until the consumer campaign is announced later this month. Q50 units that ship from the port will have the V1.9 update installed.

I don't know what the "official" policy is, other than what we've all read on here. Here's what I've been doing.

All my customers who bought cars before the initial update have been contacted by me and I've either picked up their cars personally, or they've brought them to the dealership and we've done the software (only exception - some idiot 18 year-old whose parents bought car for his b-day and he won't return my calls - his problem at this point). Most of those have the earlier update. I've been in touch with those customers to let them know that I haven't seen any compelling reason for them to come get the 1.9 update - but they should call me immediately if they have problems at all. All the cars I've sold since the 1.9 update came out have had it installed before I let the customer drive away.

In my experience it is a PITA to come to the dealer for service. And if the service isn't really necessary, then why waste my customers' time? They'll all get calls from me a day or two after we get the next update. I say a day or two because I want to make sure the installs go well on our demo cars before making my customers come for service. Once I know the update is working and stable, I'll get in touch and schedule for them to come in on a day I know I can give them a loaner car.

The initial update seems to be stable for almost everyone. I have one customer whose car is in the shop right now because a check-engine light came on. He'd already gotten the earlier update, but I'm sure we'll install the latest one while the car is in. He also experienced a problem Aggie described a while back where the car went a little nuts at high speed because of what turned out to be a bad sensor. When I looked closely at this customer's front sensors, I noticed that one of them had a crack in it - presumably from a rock hitting it. That should explain the problem, but we're doing a thorough check including having a tech from Infiniti come look at that and the check engine light problem.

I really think you're fine w/out the 1.9 update, assuming you have the earlier one. Unless you're having issues - then go to your dealer and ask for an update. Otherwise, wait for the next one.

If my experience since 10/24 had been 1/2 as comprehensive as what you're doing for your customers, I would be a happy camper.

Now, I just feel slighted.......so I kinda want my sxm traffic:)

Just curious which dealership did you buy your's from in Long Island? I had the map loading error a couple of times, it ended up being the reader was defective and needed to be replaced. After my dealer swapped it out with a new one, it never happened again. My maps always load now.
