I have two USB sticks inserted. They are never removed and reinserted, yet every time I start the car I get this screen:

"New USB Music Device Detected. Create/Replace USB Voice Recognition Data? Note: Voice Data for 1 USB and 1 iPod device can be stored for your main devices. Yes or No"

Yes or No must be touched for the screen to disappear.

I think I should see this message only if a USB stick has been removed/replaced/reinserted, not every I start the car.

Is this by design, a bug, or a setup error on my part?

Mine only shows up when I insert a new USB drive...which is very rare because I keep both my USB sticks connected at all times

I remember receiving that message when I first plugged in my iPod, and have not received it since. You first posted this question almost a year and a half ago. Haven't you been back to the dealer since then? They would be the ones you should ask, since you have not gotten an answer here.

I had fixed it in the 2014 Q50, I have a 2015 now and do not remember what i did to get around the issue.
There is an option in settings under media I think which disables this feature.

Signed up for this forum just to bump this... I have a 2015 Q50 and have the same issue. My iPod only showed the message the very first time I plugged it in, after that I was golden.

But now when I have a USB stick plugged in, even if nothing else is plugged in, I get this **** prompt every single time I start the friggin car, regardless of how many times I plug the USB stick in, and whether the car is on or off when I plug it in. It just comes up every time I start the car. So effing annoying. I've also tried 3 different sticks of different sizes and brands, and both USB ports. This message always comes up every time I start the car.

There is no setting "Media" so I don't know what Devilzblood is talking about. I went through every single setting in the setting tree and there is nothing related to this message.

Posting a pic of the issue here, hopefully someone will find this thread and post something useful.

I have a 2017 Infiniti Q50 and ipod is always in USB, I get this message each time car starts as well. It is a little shorter but says
"ipod detected. Would you like to create or replace the voice recognition data for this device?"

Can this be gotten rid of to not show up each time car starts?

Thanks!

This is true
As I've stated before, there is nothing in the user interface called "Media", so if you're going to say you found a setting, please be specific, otherwise you're adding nothing to the conversation.

I've got an iPod plugged in, that doesn't cause the issue. My 2nd USB port has a thumb drive, and that causes the message to come up 100% of the time when I start my car. No setting in the settings tree disables it, and there is definitely no "Media" setting.

I'll ask at the dealership I guess because nobody here is any help.

It is a bit hidden. Its been a while since we last heard from you friend.

I will take a look again and get you more detailed instructions. All you have to do is ask. We got your back.

Just ran down to my car to see if I can help. Try this.

Settings > Voice Recognition > Audio Device Settings

What I did to fix the problem was I selected the 2nd devices or I believe you can deselect the device causing the problem. Since then I cannot recall the last time I saw the message popup.

If that doesn't work I would delete all devices you see and try again. I have a Ipod in the first slot and a USB in the 2nd.

Just a guess but the problem could be at some point you switch the two devices and they may have a saved list for the wrong device port and this is causing a problem. I think something like this happened to me. Or the Ipod just does this everytime. IDK computers are only as smart as the person that programs them.

The problem with my fix is you may not beadle to use the voice recognition for the problem devices. I never use it because I find it doesn't work so I sleep fine.

Let us know if that doesn't fix it for you. If it doesn't I will play around a bit more and see if I can help.

Cheers!

I'm also having the problem on a 2017 Q50 when inserting a 32g Fat32 Flash Drive into the second USB slot. After inserting the drive it prompts me if I want to switch the voice recognition for this device. I've answered the question with both Yes and No answers but afterward every time I start the car with the USB Flash Drive inserted, it asks me again if I want to switch voice recognition to this device. It's very frustrating and unnatural to have to turn off the notice every time I start the car. I've gone into the device settings menu and selected, deselected and also deleted the device multiple times, but the message comes back whenever the drive is inserted with the iPod in place. I doubt it was Infiniti's intention to only be able to use just a single device at a time because the audio source selections include both iPod and USB. Am I doing something wrong???

Every time I plug in my phone I have to answer yes or no to the voice recognition question. No matter which I choose, even changing to a new phone. I comes up every time. I read about fixes but nothing works.

I have a 2017 Q60 and I have the same issue. Oddly enough I had a 2014 Hybrid and I never saw this, and I had the same setup - iPod and USB drive. No one on the Q60 forum had experienced this, so I decided to check with the Q50 forum. I've tried everything that you all have tried and nothing works. I told the tech about it at the local dealership while they were servicing my wife's car and he said he's heard of this before but as of today, they have no fix. Ugh.
