There's a lot of aftermarket CBEs out there with years on them without flex couplers that don't appear to be having any problems, myself included. I understand why the reasoning for them but I've seen a lot of pictures of flex couplers that have failed where the flex weave terminates at the ends. Corrosion appeared to be the cause of the failure. I'll take my chances without them.

The preferable flex couplers, if you feel they are necessary, would be ones like these stainless steel bellows flex couplers:

My Maxima has had braided flex sections in its aftermarket Y pipe for over 10 years, no problems. However, I live in So Cal with no snow and salt, and I never drive her in the rain.
That's explains why.

Confession to self: Sometimes I enhance (iPhone’s Saturation Photo Edit) my photos to make the Iridium Blue in my car pop.
Filters which I have no idea how to use haha. I just ry catching it on a sunny day.
