Starting as a thought based on a comment in another thread.

What may be removed from the car and/or replaced without compromising safety, comfort, or drivability? Ok, maybe we can reduce comfort a little, but you get the idea. Free weight loss is best. If you are going to post CF hood and trunk, please have the before and after weights. We all know a CF trunk or hood may shed weight (yes...may...and may not). We need readily available parts for R&R or actual parts folks have removed for weight reduction.

Open to all suggestions and I will update this first post with all relative data. Please post accurate information. Pics are great too. I will hyperlink to this post as needed.

Wheels:
Factory 19x9 ~ 30#
Factory 19x9.5 ~31#
VF Forged 19x9 20#
Nismo 19x9.5 +40 20# (2015+)
Gonna stop here because there are tons of wheels out there that are lighter than factory.

Tires:
Runflat Dunlop 245/40/19 ~30#
Runflat Dunlop 265/35/19 ~ 31#

Rotors:
Factory Sport F/R ~ 30#/20# (29lb 5 oz for front)
Z1 2 piece F/R ~ 20#/15# (19lb 7 oz for front)
DBA 2 piece F ~ 24#

Non Sport F/R ~ ??#/??#

Driveshaft:
Factory RWD ~ ??#
AMS CF RWD ` ??#

Factory AWD ~ ??#
AMS CF AWD ~ 21.5#
AMS AL AWD ~ 23.05#
Different numbers from forum member:
* OEM Driveshaft AWD 23.3lbs (v)
- AMS aluminum Driveshaft AWD 23.8lbs (v) (r)
- AMS carbon Fiber Driveshaft AWD 22.3lbs (v) (r)

Exhaust:
Factory
Y-pipe ~ 9.1#
Mid-pipe ~17.2#
Axle-Back ~ 28.7#
Complete factory cat-back ~ 55# (no hardware)
Lower Down Pipes (plural) ~ 18.6#
Complete DP ~ ??#

GTHaus GT catback

Undertray:
Factory Plastic ~ 2.6#
TBW Aluminum ~ 6.6#

Trunk Area:
- Trunk mat/floor board ~ 3lb 15 oz
- Tool tray and lug wrench ~ 1lb 10.4 oz

Lug Nuts:
- OEM 20 ~ 3lb 8.8 oz

GSP lightweight (20) ~ 1lb 5.2oz

Free bits:
Posted by Potatohead posts 61/62
- Carpeted OEM floor mats (4): 4lb 3.2oz
- Owner's manual and related booklets (assuming you normally keep it in your glove box): 2lb 3.6oz
- All 5 headrests: 7lb 0.0oz
- If you want to leave at least your driver side headrest in place (probably recommended): + 1lb 14.0oz
Thus, 4 headrests: 5lb 2.0oz
- Also, worth noting, gasoline weighs about 6lb/gal. That can really add up when comparing a full tank of gas to, say 1/8 or 1/4. I think our tank holds 20 gal? So 1/4 tank = 30lb, full tank = 120lb
- Also keep in mind water weighs a little over 8lb/gal. I don't know the capacity of our windshield washer tanks but if it were, say, a gallon, you could save ~8lb by running with the fluid on the low end.
- Rear passenger side tow hook. 2lb 9.8oz. (Advising against this, but this is ptatohed posting)

Good thread, glad you added based on out chat.

Add exhaust swap and remove cats.

Probably going to take someone getting under the car and looking around as to what can be safely removed.

Organized first post a bit more.

I need folks to confirm/deny these numbers. Anything with a ??# means, of course, that I don't know the weight. If you know for sure, please help.

By the way, are you saying the FI downpipe and complete exhaust saved only 6#? It should be a lot more than that.

EDIT: This the only bit of information I found at the FI homepage. They listed the LDP and cat-back as saving 9# over factory and that the LDP was 7# lighter. This translates to the cat-back being only 2# lighter which seems wrong somehow. Need to do some digging with FI.

They said it may weigh the same or a tad more when I called them. Maybe i made an error weighing my parts, but they were catted full downpipes and resonated X-pipe. DP are 3" and the resonators added some extra weight too. But still lighter than OEM and better tubing. The OEM rusted in 3 months and the muffler pillow was tinny thin metal. The FI felt like it's heaver gauge all around.

Hi All! I just got a 2017 Q50 RS400 today :) I am looking to reduce weight, but haven't done anything yet obviously. I heard the OEM Run Flats aren't the best for performance, even all-season. Anyway, listed weights of a popular all-season tire to save about 20# overall:

Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06
245/40ZR19 ~24#
265/35ZR19 ~25#

I would be interested in an exhaust system to lose weight, but don't want to sacrifice too much fuel mileage... yeah I commute mostly. Does anyone have any info on their weight savings for exhaust replacement and the change in their fuel economy?

Thank you all!

the only reason you would see a loss in mpg is that lead appendage called a right foot.

i do 18.1 combined and Ibhave zero power mods so good luck.

as far a sexhausts. gthaus claims a 30# loss for a catback. and maybe 60# for titanium catback. i have the numbers written down but didnt put in 1st post.

I average around 23MPG in my RS400 RWD. Good mix of city/highway.

nope, but as you know the only real difference is a couple hundred pounds.
300HP variants have different final drive ratios, that is likely making up for the difference in MPG.
Also its easy to say "City" but we all know that can either me stop and go or semi-constant pace at 30-40MPH.

the difference in final drive between an SS and an RS is negligible especially with a 7 speed trans. I do agree though about "city". My city is not stop and go common of a large metropolis.

I get 23 city/(very little)highway, but not too much stop and go. I have a RS400 with LDP/CBE(FI) and tune. I would have to drive around in sport+ and race to each stop light to get below 20. Unless hustling, I usually look down the road to predict the traffic lights, then coast down to adjust my speed and avoid stopping.

As they say, 'Your mileage may vary.'
