I went from a G37 sedan to the new Q50. After reading just about every review there is about the Q50, the experts all seemed to complain about the run flat tires on the car (lousy grip, choppy ride). I therefore had every intention of replacing the tires fairly quickly with Michelin Primacy MXV4's or similar.

After driving my Q50 home today, I'm happy to report that I am more pleased with the car than I thought. To me, it's every bit as responsive as my G37, but with much more refinement. The car is quieter with a more "premium" feeling, and in sport mode, it's reflexes are very quick. So far, I'm having fun with the DAS system...also better than I had anticipated. I know it's early, but right now I think I'll stick with the run-flats.

Going from the G37, I was looking for a car that had similar sporty dynamics, but with a much better interior, and more refinement. Although I haven't driven the car on a track, I think the new Q50 fits my needs. I hope I'm just as happy a few months from now.

First, don't listen to the reviewers. The acceleration typos and incorrect statements in Motor Trend were all I needed to realize I know more about cars than these freaks that are paid to write about them. Second, your car's suspension is tuned to those run-flats, plus, if you have a hybrid, changing the tire configuration can affect the performance of the regenerative braking. Glad to have another independent thinker on board.

Perfect description. As far as the run flats are concerned, I did change them out, and the ride became much more comfortable. The couple of days that they were on the car made it feel like there were no shock absorbers. Luckily, the tires on my traded-in G were fairly new, exactly the same size as that on the Q, and the dealer just swapped them out. I have not had any braking problems with the non-run flats. As has been said by many here, the reviews should not tell YOU what you like or don't like. If you are happy with the car, that's all that matters.

So I've been hearing issues with run-flats. Should one negotiate to have them replaced with normal ones?

I too was worried about the run flats after reading other's reviews, and asked the dealer to swap them with Michelins. They weren't willing to do it because Infinity apparently would not take the run flats back. So I've go the run flats and I think they are fine. A little rough, maybe - but I do have sport suspension too. My only gripe really is that they are a little bit noisy on concrete roads, but otherwise they handle pretty well including in the snow. So I would not fret about swapping them out until they wear out, and by then the next generation run flats will surely be improved and we'll have a brand new debate.

Some people even sell their OEM wheel/tire package privately right after taking delivery of the car. best way to get back the most you can for it as it's practically NEW.

Flat tire after only 8 days

I just picked up my Q50 AWD 8 days ago and I got a flat yesterday! I dropped if off at the dealer and I am afraid to know how much this will cost me. I am happy with the car however, these stupid tires might ruin it for me. I leased this car so I cannot swap them out with another tire. Is it possible to get these for free since I just got the car?

just because you leased doesn't mean you can't swap them out. I even asked my dealer before leasing that if the tires wear out do I have to replace them with the same tires, specifically run flats, they said no.
