Every time I start my new Q50 (Premium pkg, no nav, no tech) the Predictive Course display on the back up camera does not show. This is bad because the first thing i have to do when getting out of my parking area is to reverse. I can change the setting for the Predictive Course Lines to be "on" and they will appear every time I put the car in reverse, until I shut down the car. At the next start up...no Predictive Course display!

btw, it seems that all of the other Settings for vehicle, audio, etc are saved, but just the Camera> Predictive Course Lines always goes back to "off". Anyone got a fix?

Does this happen immediately after you start the car and throw it in reverse? Or can you wait a minute or so, then put it in reverse?

I know one of the initial problems (prior to the first delay) was that the reverse lines would show up late. Other stuff would load first...and some people get in, start the car and put it in reverse before it can load. This was supposed to have been fixed by The Big Update.

Can you test the theory, then post your software version?

Yeah I think it could be due to putting it in reverse too quickly for it to load. Tr manual says not to move for at least 30 seconds after starting the car. My guess is to allow everything to load. I know it takes at least 30 seconds for everything (apps) to load on my Q50 and probably 15 seconds or longer before it even addresses me (welcome on screen).

See if a delayed reverse helps!

Wow - that kinda stinks :(

I'm used to start and reverse in my G. I don't have 30 seconds to sit around waiting for a boot up every time I want to pull out of a parking spot.

This might make me back into all of my spaces but then the backup collision intervention becomes useless. . . What to do? What to do?

I haven't driven my Q50 enough to tell you if the features such as backup collision are activated before all the apps are downloaded. Aggie could probably speak to it more. I've only driven my car 3 times and ONE of them was to Starbucks as you suggested!! Ha

C'mon girl - it's time for another cup of Joe. We need the info about the startup sequence :)

Yeah, I know they do have to go through a certain sequence for startup and not everything can be first. It will be interesting to see what they have chosen for the priorities, and if they might change it with updates?

I wonder I'd they can cache some of the items since the system draws power even when off - or solid state memory I'm sure.

The backup system likely has to run a diagnostic to make sure it's working so it can warns he driver if it isn't. I'm ok waiting to back out if I'm between two huge SUV's since BCI would help greatly. But I don't want to sit in my garage for 30 seconds blowing exhaust all over the place while I wait for the grid lines to show up. Nitpicking, maybe a bit but when I'm used to immediacy with the G for this feature it would be reasonable to expect in an upgraded model - even with the more complicated system.

Enjoy your coffee and report back please :D

New feature suggestion for Infiniti: Q50 should "wake up" from an RFID chip in your FOB when you are within 50 feet to load apps.

Of course, this could drain a battery when parked in your garage and fob sits less than that on a hook or a drawer.

not sure what the solution is, except faster processors on start up. Prioritizing makes sense. 30 seconds is too long. Out of the garage or parking spot and driving before then.

I have the same issue. It's quite frustrating. Also resetting the Intouch does nothing for this.

If anyone can find a fix it would be great!

I know Aggie posted a video of his Aroundview system coming up with predictive course display right away after turning on his car.

Here is a video where I show how long it is taking for my car, about a minute and 15 seconds.

Just tested my car. Had been sitting off for hours. Turned on, 3 sec later put in reverse. I see the rear reverse lines as I should.

Can't think of why we are seeing inconsistent behavior...

I wonder if the around view system is using a different part of the system. The safety systems in the tech package seem to be separated from InTouch. It's possible the camera system is tied to that.

I hadn't even realized I had this problem until I read this thread. My driveway is a tight squeeze to get out of, so I tend to rely more on actually turning my head both ways than using the camera, just to be safe. So I hadn't noticed that the lines were not there. Well now I noticed it. I checked and the display predictive lines is checked to On. I drove for a bit and then tried reverse and they came on.

I do not have the tech package.

Hey everyone... thanks for your input. It seems that those of us with out the tech package seem to have the problem that the predictive course lines load very slowly. it is not useful when you first start the car and pull out in reverse. Later, after the car has been on for 2-3 minutes (?) it will come on if you put the car in reverse. Hopefully a software update will prioritize this function in the software loading sequence.
Is this what others without the tech package are experiencing?
