So I did my research and couldn't find if there's a way to retrofit the 2016 Q50 shift boot to the revised configuration of the Q60 shift knob.
I've only found this thread where most just bought the finisher boot Q60/QX60 shift knob
I'm not opposed to spending the $60 and getting the boot with the new stiching Shopping Cart | Discount Infiniti Parts, but if its simple to dremel out a plastic piece I would like to know.
Thanks in advance

I got a new shift knob in today.
Figured I'd have a look at the old boot and how it fit before I bought a new boot.
If it's a matter of a stitch pattern between the boot and knob matching I really don't care.
I'll know the day after tomorrow.

I also thought about upgrading to the newer shifter but I put it off because the steering wheel wont match. Smh

So why the Q60 nob/boot and not the Q50 2018+ nob/boot?

I installed the new shifter and boot on 2015 Q50S to match the stitching. I’m OCD.. easy process took minutes to replace.. and it does have a good look and feel.

No heated seats? :(

So, did you buy a 2017+ Q60 setup or a 2018+ Q50 setup?

No I bought 2018+ Q50 shift knob. Like this one on eBay:

And yes I do have heated seat. :)

Slight thread refresh...... So if going with the Q60 knob, then you need the q60 boot also - but if going with the 2018+ q50 knob, then you do not need to replace the boot also? Also is there an actual difference in the 2018+ 50 knob than the 60 knob - they seem to look identical to me.

You don't 'need' to replace the boot, either way. But if you want the stitching to flow, aesthetically, you'll want the new boot, either way. No one has answered the difference between the 2017+ Q60 vs the 2018+ Q50 difference yet, so I am not sure either but I think they are the same.
