Just wanted to let folks know that it seems Infiniti is replacing the DCU if the dashboard crashes after the "super fix" software update back from back in the early fall of 2013.

My history: I took delivery of my Q50S Hybrid AWD in mid-November in Boston and was delivered with the software update for the dashboard issues that have been well documented on this forum. By the second week of December my dash crashed while I was driving down the interstate and it didn't wake-up out of the Infiniti logo until I got off the highway and restarted the car at a stop light. Which allowed me to use the climate control and radio but the Nav was still busted. After I parked the car for 3 hours I came back and started the car and the Nav and climate and radio were back but the voice prompts were disabled so I took it in. I couldn't get it in for 8 days and by the time I took it in the voice prompts were back. I still took it in to report the problem but didn't have a lot of hope of any remediation since how can I expect something be done if the issues are not reproducible (I may have been irritated but there are limits to what people can do to fix something they can't actually see).

After 4 days of investigation which included the head tech taking the car home with him to do some analysis that the Infiniti Engineers recommended they never reproduced the problem but recommended a DCU replacement.

I got my car back (ugh G37 such a let down after the Q) for the time the part was on order. I got the car back in and I am now in a Q50 as a loaner.

The car is now in its 4th day at the dealer (they are open on Sundays) and the DCU has been replaced. I got a call from the dealer and they are asking to keep the car and have the master tech take it home again and record data from it with the new dash computer. They have asked that they do it again tomorrow keeping it for a 5th day. :(

It seems that there is a huge replacement going on with this DCU to the point where if I wasn't able to get my car in quick enough after the part came in then the dealership was going to have to give the DCU up to a new customer because they are in such "hot demand". Now this was trouble for me because I travel for work but I made it in just in time.

I am posting this so folks who have issues after the "big fix" update from a few months ago they should let the dealership know so that they can continue to track the problem. It is a huge inconvenience but without reports Infiniti can fix the problem. I was pleasantly surprised that despite "not reproducing" the problem they still replaced the DCU. Which suggests that they did find something but may not have been exactly what I reported otherwise I don't know why Infiniti would replace the DCU just out of the goodness of their hearts.

I am having my DCU and GPS antennas replaced today. Per Nissan, This should resolve the Navigation incident and the backup lines.

Loaner 2015 Q50.

Thanks for posting this! I've only recently ran into my navigation screen not showing any maps and has a black screen. The dealer just can't figure out what's going on. They've already replaced my navigation unit as well. It all started when I received the error message stating to check if the SD card was plugged in properly on my navigation screen.

Wonder if they'll be replacing the DCU next?

Followup. Nothing Changed after the replacements. I wonder how they are going to address these problems. The ball is in Nissan's court. I will followup on this.

I'm having similar issues. A person from Infiniti customer care called me yesterday to let me know that they are arranging a factory specialist to come out and see if he can figure out what's wrong. They said either Thursday or Friday. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
